Ware Cemetery

My brother was buried in Ware Cemetery, Nov. 11, 2003. The family is here in Louisiana and just learned from a Texas friend, that they buried him on the wrong plot then dug up his grave and moved his body without our knowledge. All should be aware how dis-tasteful these people are, not to mention they have bodies they cannot even find in there, including babies. How sick the thought of our family going through this and how we tell our mother of 79 yrs this information. See there is no link also to contact them. Be assured, someone will answer to this family, why this has happened and why we were NOT TOLD. You people can have Kaufman County Texas and Ware Cemetary.

Sounds to me like the person in charge of the cemetery did not pay any attention to his records and had the original grave dug in the wrong location. When he found his mistake HE SHOULD HAVE notified your family and ask for your permission to move the casket after telling you of the problem.

We had a similar occurance. My parents had bought a section (5 plots) in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry (Kaufman County). My father was buried there in 1983 then my mother in 1990. About 2 years later we were cleaning up the area and noticed a small metal marker to the right of my mother. It was NOT a new grave but just a new marker. When we notified the person in charge of the cemetery (and showed them the receipt for the section bought in 1950) they were horrified that the mistake had been made. They gave us two options: 1) they would contact the family of the incorrectly buried person and ask to move him, OR 2) they would give us our other 3 plots in a different location. We took our plots on the other side of our parents (in an area that had been set aside for landscaping).

So, instead of blaming Kaufman County and the cemetery people, maybe you should contact the person at the cemetery and ask about it.

I don't blame you one bit for being angry. I would be absolutely livid. I can somewhat feel your pain because my dad is buried somewhere in Kaufman county but no one seems to know where or want to help me find out. The funeral home that buried him doesn't know where they put him. I checked with the cemetary listed in the obituary but no luck I have no earthly idea where he is. and I contacted everyone right up to the president and got no help at all so along with Kaufman county you can have the state of Texas too.

Ms. Myrna,
I am sorry to hear bout your encounter also with a cemetery, but rest assured, it does not compare to what we are dealing with. I noticed on the bottom of your email you said do not blame Kaufman County or the Cemetery, well its the cemetery that messed up and placed my brother in the wrong plot. Another, you were decent enough to take other plots, instead of insisting that a newly buried body be extracted and moved so you could keep your plot. How inhumane, we feel here in Louisiana, that whoever's plot it was could not leave a body undisturbed.
Maybe it is not Kaufman as you say, but from the responses and the attitudes we have gotten from people there you cannot convince our family of this at this moment.

Sincerely,
Molly Alston

Touche Dorothy,
I am sorry to hear of your misfortune also with Kaufman County and another cemetery located there. I feel your pain. I have found that my brother was moved to another plot within the same cemetery, God only knows how I would feel if I could not find him at ALL. Good Lord, how can such a thing happen to anyone. I have found many sources, links, names, numbers that I can forward to you, in hopes I can help you rest in your heart and find your family. Feel free to email me or call me anytime and I will give you places to go that might help you.
Although, my brother has only been moved to another location, I would love to meet this person that could not take another plot rather than see a newly buried body, disturbed due to their greediness. I along with you, can actually say, they can have Texas too.

Later girl,
Call me if you like
or email me alst4383@bellsouth.net

I am so sorry to hear about these disgusting screw-ups at these cemeteries. I hear this ALL the time here in Florida..and mostly it is intentional...No respect.
But..as a former resident of Kaufman County and the beautiful state of Texas I ask you to NOT blame all Kaufman County people or the state itself.
It sounds like someone needs to pick up the ball in Kaufman County and maybe someone out there might have a contact email address or phone number to a TV station that has a problem solving hot line like they do in so many states. It's AMAZING what kind of fast action one gets when the poo hits the fans on The TV news station at prime time in the evening!! LOL..Works wonders here in Florida.
I know there must be really caring people in Kaufman County..this just needs to get to the right ears...and so many ears are tuned into the TV. Can anyone supply a phone number or email address for a TV station for these people?
As for Bush..well.. He's got himself in enough mess with dead and tragically wounded soldiers so a couple of lost bodies won't be high on his agenda.
I hope you can take some comfort in the fact that Our Creator knows where ALL are buried. No one can take our memories of our loved ones from us. Licia

Dorothy, I know this is an old post and you may not get this message. I am a local genealogist and curious. What is your fathers name and date of death? His death certificate should list the cemetery he is in. But if he is in an unmarked grave you will most likely not be able to find the spot he is in. I love enumerating cemeteries and it bothers me and other people who enumerate that there are so many people lost in the unmarked graves. No one should be forgotten. If you get this send me his info ok?
