1900 Indian Census

Surnames: Hisaw, Speir, Wedgeworth
HELP--I have been told by my deceased grandparents that I have Indian Blood on both sides of my parents. They are both deceased, but would never talk to me about it and now I am trying to find where I belong. This is new to me and would appreciate any help. I have found my fathers family on the 1900 census. It says, State of "Indian Territory", County, "Chickasaw Nation", Township of "Comanche Township No.2". Does their name "Speir" being on this census have any ties to Indian Blood? Also, I was told that on my mother's side my ggrandmother Docia Hisaw was full blood Indian and my grandfather, George Washington Wedgeworth was 1/2. Their grandson who is 92 and living tells me it is Cherokee, but I can find no records. If you have any advise or information, I would appreciate the help.

"1900 Indian Census"

This is NOT the "1900 Indian Census", but the 1900 United States Federal Census (taken every 10 years since 1790).
The fact that a family was residing in Indian Territory does not necessarily mean they were Indian.
On the contrary, with the opening of lands in the late 19th century (Land Runs), white settlers poured in to the region in the hopes of obtaining free or cheap land and there were actually more whites (Intruders) than Indians.

Their are 18 SPEIR's in IT in 1900 (all non Indian), including William and Katherine SPEIR both born in Germany.
In Comanche Twp, Chickasaw Nation there is Hiram SPEIR and family, and his son Thomas SPEIR and wife living next door.
If you need the census details, let me know.

You are Welcome Reggie. If you could give some dates and more info on the Speirs line, I will see what I can find. I am not related. Good luck. Vidia

Thank you, I also came across this, and thought it might be connected to your Wedgeworth family. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~msneshob/families/wedgewor...
