This is NOT the "1900 Indian Census", but the 1900 United States Federal Census (taken every 10 years since 1790).
The fact that a family was residing in Indian Territory does not necessarily mean they were Indian.
On the contrary, with the opening of lands in the late 19th century (Land Runs), white settlers poured in to the region in the hopes of obtaining free or cheap land and there were actually more whites (Intruders) than Indians.
Their are 18 SPEIR's in IT in 1900 (all non Indian), including William and Katherine
SPEIR both born in Germany.
In Comanche Twp, Chickasaw Nation there is
Hiram SPEIR and family, and his son Thomas
SPEIR and wife living next door.
If you need the census details, let me know.
