I am looking for information on the following family, especially the name of the father and the maiden name of the mother. Would also like to connect with anyone related to this family.

1850 census St Albans VT:
Mary Chambeau 44
John Chambeau 27
Nelson Chambeau 17
Charles Chambeau 11
Joseph Chambeau 7
[all born in Canada]

In 1860 Nelson is married to Louisa _____?____ and John is married to Almira ____?____; Charles and John are unmarried. All are still in St Albans.

In 1870 John is married to Alice ____?_____; he and Nelson are still in St Albans.

I have not so far been able to find Charles in 1870.

But in 1870 Joseph is living in Fall River MA married to Rosa ____?____. They have two children: Lorenzo 5 [born in VT]and Ella [Ellen/Nellie/Helen] 2 [born in MA].

In 1880 in Fall River Rosa is a widow and has two more children: Charles 6 and Jennie 4.

I have yet to find any of the other brothers in 1880.

Thanks, Thom.

I discovered that Peter Schambow was Peter Chambeau when he married in 11-12-1790 in Sharfdorf, Germany. He was born 4-10-1764 per Mecklenburg 1819 census, not sure of parents or where born. Some of his children are listed as Chambeau and others as Chambeau(Schambow). However, three Grandson came to settle in Platteville, Wis as Schambow.

Tom,

I, too, am looking the Shambo/Shambeau family of St. Albans, VT. I believe my gggrandmother, Lucy Shambo/Shambeau belongs in this family that you found in the 1860 St. Albans, VT census. My Lucy married John Scott
Miller of Alburgh, VT and died in her early 30's in
in Kansas. Lucy was born 4/19/1844.

I do not believe that the family went to Fall River, MA like someone has on ancestry.com. That person is not correct. But, as to where they did go, I have no idea.
That person has a lot of first names that are not accurate.
My aunt, Leona Hale, of Spokane, WA may have contacted
you previously as she has been looking for our Lucy also.
Short of going up to St. Albans, VT (I live in Georgia)
I don't know what to do to find them. Also, they did not
come from Germany as someone posted...they came to VT
from Quebec.
