Looking for my ggg grandfather, his wife and/or brother. They are listed in 1870 census for McLeod County, Hale Twp - Mathias was 74, Jemima 64, William would have been abt 50/51 with a wife Katharine/Catharine abt 44/45. In 1870, Mathias still had 2 daughters at home: Lavina and Elnora - these could have been William's daughters...not sure since I can't see a census image, only an index without ages and relationships.

Mathias disappears from records after this census - and Jemima shows up in a poor home in Iowa at least briefly in 1892. So I'm guessing Mathias died sometime between 1870 and 1892.

Searching for any information, particularly a will or burial location for Mathias. He has been a tremendous brick wall for several years - I am thrilled to get this far, but dearly want to track him to the end of his life, as well as what happened to the rest of his family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm checking into the possibility that your Mathias is the son of Mathias Parson - family settled in Lauramie Twp., Tippecanoe County, IN in the 1820s. Mathias had a son, Mathias, who may have received a land grant for property in Fountain Co, IN - I found a marriage record for Mathias Parson and Jemina Penwell, Fountain Co, IN, 12-19-1833.

Please feel free to email me.
