Surnames: Barclay and Riddell

I am serching for information on Andrew Barclay and his wife Maria Riddell who lived in Banff. Andrew was "servitor" to Patrick, XV11 Laird of Tolly. He was born around 1570 and had (at least) two sons, John and Peter Barclay who became silk merchants in Rostock in 1621.

The family later moved to Riga and became Barclay de Tolly.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Hi, You have posted to the Message Board for Banff Alberta - Canada. first settled in the late 1880's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banff,_Alberta

The area was named Banff in 1884 by Lord Steven, a former Canadian Pacific Railway director, recalling the name of his birthplace, Banffshire in Scotland[4]. Canadian Pacific built a series of grand hotels along the rail line and advertised the Banff Springs Hotel as an international tourist resort.

History of Banff - Alberta -

omits the fact that this area was used as internment camp during WW1 the residents used as labour.

Your research is in Scotland.
