STINSON FAMILY

I am looking for information on the STINSON family who resided in Derrygonnelly, County Fermanagh. They had a connection with the PARKER family from the village of Glenfarne in County Leitrim.
JANE (unknown maiden name), who married WILLIAM PARKER, a farmer of Co. Leitrim, had a sister whose given name and maiden name are unknown to me, who married into the STINSON family of Co. Fermanagh. Names that I have associated with the STINSON family are ISABELLA STINSON, EMILY STINSON, possibly a JANE STINSON. I also have names of cousins of my husband's grandmother, ELIZABETH "LIZZIE" PARKER born in Co. Leitrim in 1888: CHARLIE STINSON, SADIE STINSON, EMILY STINSON and HARRIET STINSON. EMILY STINSON of County Fermanagh went to the USA, as did several of the PARKER children from County Leitrim. Some of the other STINSON children may have also migrated to the USA. The time period that they would have migrated would have been between 1875 and 1921. FREDDIE PARKER of Glenfarne, County Leitrim, a sibling of ELIZABETH "LIZZIE" PARKER above, was said to have married one of his STINSON cousins and was the only PARKER sibling to remain behind in Ireland. Can anyone help me unravel this puzzle? Does anyone recognize a connection to either of these two families?

Thank you, Daniel. I have already browsed through the Ellis Island website. It's a wonderful site. That is how I found out that our related STINSON line was from County Fermanagh, and not County Leitrim, where our PARKERs are from, as I first believed.

Hello,
Recently the Ellis Island records were put on the internet. They cover the 1892-1922 or so period. Perhaps you could find some of your people there. Try www.ellisislandrecords.net.

Hi,

I wonder if the stinson family I am descended from are the ones that you are looking for?

My great great grandfather was John Stinson Jr from the townland of Agho in County Fermanagh. He was married to Margaret McLean and had children Edward, Mary Ann, Susan, Margaret, Isabelle, Jennie, Nellie, Kate, Fan, Elizabeth and Catherine.

It is my understanding that Jennie Stinson married into the Parker family, but eventually remarried as Frazer. I regret that I don't have dates or palces - but I know that she had the following children. Bob Parker, Will Parker, Elizabeth Parker, Albert Parker, Fanny Parker, Margaret Parker, Fred Parker, Mary Jane frazer, wallace frazer, and Dora Frazer.

Of those children, Fred Parker married back into another line of the stinson family, marrying Emily Stinson. He remained in Ireland until his death.

What makes life a little confusing is that the farm on which Jennie Stinson was raised, in Agho, was split into two. Joseph Stinson, a cousin of Jennie's father, also farmed at agho and he had a large number of siblings too. These were James, Annie, Bamford, Charlie, Edmond, Emily, harriet, Jospeh, Lilly, Rebecca, Reginald, William and Letitia Stinson.

Quite a gang, that includes most of the given names you mentioned.

If I can be of any further help, please dont hesitate to drop me an email. robert_e_stephenson@hotmail.com
