Randy, the file is uploading, but hanging up in processing. Has something on your end crashed?

Worldconnect is being hit hard right now by google (40+ threads) and the process has slowed down a bit. If you have a specific tree you'd like me to look at let me know.

thanks, Randy.
it finally finished processing after a couple hours, but it normally never takes more than 5 minutes.

I wonder if google is the culprit/reason we have been getting the "too many conenctions" error so often lately.

Yes. I've got to see what I can do to slow it down a little :-)

Ditto the caswellcounty tree. The gedcom upload has been grinding longer than ever. Thanks. Rick

I just checked and it did complete about 30 minutes ago. I've got to do something to throttle google.

Randy: Thanks. Oddly, I never was taken to the confirmation page. First time this has happened in seven years. Rick

some of this information might be useful -

Also during various ancestry promotions, the site is hit by a larger number of newbies, which in turn slow down the paid members. I wonder if their might be a way to restrict non-subsribers to a (s)lower level/priority of access.

Google has sophisticated algorithms that determine how much to crawl each site. Our goal is to crawl as many pages from your site as we can on each visit without overwhelming your server's bandwidth.

You can change the crawl rate (the time used by Googlebot to crawl the site) for sites that are at the root level—for example, www.example.com and http://subdomain.example.com. You can't change the crawl rate for sites that are not at the root level—for example, www.example.com/folder.

Note: Crawl rate refers to the speed of Googlebot's requests during the crawl process. It doesn't have any effect on how often we crawl or how deeply we crawl your URL structure.

To change the crawl rate:

1.On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click the site you want.
2.Under Site configuration, click Settings.
3.In the Crawl rate section, select the option you want.
The new crawl rate will be valid for 90 days.
