My records show that Dougal married a second time 23 June 1885 to a Laura S. Pellymounter. Do you know anything about this second marriage? Dougal served in the civil war from Iowa. Do you have any idea why his wife is buried in michigan and do you know what cemetary she is in?

Yes, I do have the record of this marriage and the civil war record. First wife Amanda Sears McDougall died in 1878 in Pleasantview Twp., Emmet Co., MI of bilious fever. I do not know where she is buried at this time. What is your connection to Dougal McDougal?

Thanks for the information. My wife Judy is a great great great granddaughter of Dougal McDougal through his daughter Livionia. Her family has a farm not far from the Taylorville cemetary where Dougal is buried. We have been there several times. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help with the ancestor search. How do you fit into the line.

Hoping you are still on board. I would like to share McDougal - Sears information with you. All I have is Livonia's marriage to Henry Powers and their children. Our descent is through Elizabeth McDougal who married James Barnes and moved to Michigan. My e-mail is Russbruce@AOL.com

While doing research at the Buchanan County, Iowa courthouse, I found a marriage record for Dougal McDougall, age 77 of Fayette County, Iowa and Laura S. Pellymounter age 40, of Fayette County, Iowa. They were married in Independence, Buchanan County, Iowa on 06/23/1885. C.E. Daugherty attested to the fact that neither were married at the time.
I also found a marriage record for a Nicholas Pelleymounter, age 52, of Fremont Twp who married Mrs. Laura S. Graves, age 35, at Masonville, Iowa in Buchanan County on 07/28/1878. R. Norton P.M. (Postmaster?) of Masonville and a Statement from Saml. Hussey were used as requisite proof of the age and condition of the parties involved.
I could not find a record in Buchanan County for a Graves male that married a woman named Laura.
I am descended from Dougal's daughter Livonia who married Henry Powers.
