Can someone please tell me the proximity of McArthur in Vinton County is borderline to Ross County or Chillicothe in particular. I have tried in vain to find a marriage record in Ross Co, (which a deceased ancestor told me they married), even shows on two children's death certificates as place of birth,(1850's), but in 1860 are living in McArthur, Vinton County. Just trying to choose the most logical place to find this marriage record-as it has me at a stand still to pursue further generations, was hoping listed witnesses or bondsman might be on the record, or other vital information.
Thank you in advance!

You're probably talking about an hour drive today. Try calling the local library. I have had wonderful success with them. They have been very helpful to me in the past.740.702.4145. Ditto Ross Co Genealogical Soc.740.773.2715.

Whose marriage are you looking for? I have Ross County Marriage publications from 1798 to 1925 and will be glad to do a look-up in case you missed them in your search.

Surnames: Lannon, O'Toole
Not from the Genealogy Society, I had on two occasions called the Court House and they did a quick 30 second search from their database. I sure would appreciate it, perhaps they weren't indexed properly or other books may have information at the Society. They were both staunch Catholic if that helps. When I called the Court House, I would give them different variations of Lannon, to Lennin, Lannum, Lonnon, etc. She has always been in census records as Catherine, and my family nickname for her was Kitty, although when I found her very non-descript obit, it listed that Mrs. Margaret Lannon passed away. So her full name may be Margaret Catherine O'Toole. Thank you so very much for the offer!

Can you give me something more to go on? When did she die and at what age? Who was her husband? I can check censuses to get more information so I have an idea of when they may have married.

You can email me directly to expedite these messages.
Please put Ross Co Marriage look up in subject line.

Thanks Shirley, it would be for James Lannon (Lannin, Lannum, on different variations of spelling) to Catherine O'Toole possibly Margaret Catherine O'Toole, natives of Ireland, and Catholic. They were not married in 1840 census records, they appear in 1860 in Vinton County, with the eldest child being 8 years old, I'm gauging they were married around 1850ish. Was always told married in Chilicothe, and two children's death records do list this as their birthplace. It has just been very elusive trying to find their record, bondsman, or witnesses. Thank you so very much for your offer.
