Nice to see so many Pitners posting...
My Pitners moved from PA into WV panhandle and OH -- Levi H. (b. Greene Co. PA in 1849), George W., John Smith Pitner (b. Clarion PA 1866) and Hattie Pitner Owen. (I believe there are more siblings) I've not found mention of their parents anywhere, but am curious about Lambert and Abner Pitner, brothers, and sons of Henry Pitner, who was the son of John Pitner -- both ended up in Ohio, so I'm trying to see if there's a connection.
Also, Found info on a Frank, Almeda and son George Pitner in 1870 WV (Wheeling) census if anyone would like the info...

My father has traced back to his great-grandfather (right off hand I can't recall his first name). However my father ha hit a snag, his great-grandfather and a sister were apparently orphaned and taken in by another family in Ohio. Maybe this is the lead he has been looking for. His e-mail is hlpitner @worldnet.att.net
Thanks Susan

Re: Lambert, Abner or Frank Pitner
There didn't happen to be an Anna Charnock nee Pitner that was their sibling by any chance? She was born in Buck Co. PA, moved to Green Co, PA, then to Wheeling, WV and Steubenville, OH. She was born 13 Mar 1791 and died 18 Jun 1858 in Wheeling, WV.

Replying to my original post to update...
Have since learned:
Richard Pitner b. abt 1807 in MD (first wife may have been Ann James, m. 1833, children were Elizabeth (born in MD), Roseallen and William b in OH (Zanesville). Ann died 1838 six months or so after William was born. Roseallen and William were raised by Ann's parents, Joseph and Elizabeth of Zanesville)
Abt. 1844, Richard C. Pitner m. Hattie Kenny Their children were: John (m. Lizzie McGlumphy) Hattie (m. Owen) George b. 1847; m. Ella Maybury (can supply list of children if someone has a connection and needs the info). Ella died; George was married to his second wife, Mary E. Aemir McCombs by a Rev. Henthorne in Belmont CO. Ohio. Rev Henthorne's wife was a Pitner. George and Mary had a daughter, Grace Pitner. Please note there were two George W. Pitners born about the same year and living in the same part of Ohio; both were Civil War vets. The other George W. married Elizabeth Kirk and had no issue. Levi (b. 1849 m. Annie Maybury, Ella's sister. Can supply list of names of children if there is a connection) James -- no record of marrying
I've been unable to find further info about Richard Pitner or Hattie Kenny.
