Did you ever get any information on your Taylors in Corryton? I am curious because my ggg grandfather was John Henry Taylor, b.VA 1820 and died 1878-1880 in Corryton, TN. I don't know much about Corryton other than where it's located. I just thought it was interesting that both of our Taylors had Corryton in common. Please advise.

Thanks!

Hello, I am looking for info on a Harvey Taylor, born in VA about 1837 and died in TN sometime after the 1920 census. He had grandchildren who lived in the Coryton, Sevierville, knoxville area of TN.

ANY info will help, I know little about him except his name. He had a daughter who went by "Lizzie", but her name was Elizabeth, perhaps Mary Elizabeth.

I am desperate for help, and will greatly appreciate ANY REPLIES.

Here is what I know. Harvey Taylor was my g-g-grandfather. I don't know his wife's name. Harvey's daughter was my g-grandmother, her name was listed as Lizzie on the census records. I think her name may have been Mary Elizabeth because that is the name listed on her son's death certificate.

Lizzie was married to Charles Webster (her 2nd husband), they had 2 children, Hobart Webster (my grandfather) and Grace Webster. Lizzie and Charlie also raised her 3 sons from a pervious marriage, their names were Sam Reece, Johnny Reece, and Lloyd Reece. For a time, Sam Reece lived in Harlan, Ky and my grandfather Hobart Webster lived with him, that is where he met my grandmother. Did I mention I am from Harlan, Ky?

In 1920, Harvey Taylor lived with Charlie and Lizzie Webster. Apparently he lived with one of the Reece men when he died, possibly he died in 1942 in or near Corryton, TN.

I know I am rambling, I never knew any these people. If any of this sounds familiar, please let me know. I have been searching for answers for over a year.

To clarify, I am Darlene Brock. My mother was Mary Elizabeth Webster, her father was Hobart Webster, his mother was Mary Elizabeth Taylor, her father was Harvey Taylor

Do you know the names of any of Harvey & Mary's children? Do you know where they lived during the census years, 1910, 1900, etc.? Do you think we are talking about the same person, is my Harvey Taylor your Harvey Taylor?

I do think my Harvey Taylor was born in VA,in 1837. My source on this is the census where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law. However, you can't count on the ages of people listed on the census being right-I have found them to usually be wrong.

You are right about census records being incorrect.
Sometimes tombstones are also. I think we are talking about the same Harvey. I did some research in Russell Co, Va
and found the dates 17 Mar 1841 for Harvey's birth. I
also got his death off of his tombstone at Roseberry
church. Is this where your Harvey is buried?
Children
James Montgomery Taylor (my grandfather)
Mary R
John David
Sarah E. (I thought this was Lizzie)
William B
Susan L (This is the one called Lulu)
Nathaniel P (I think this was Paul)

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I am trying to find some records I lost, my family files are a mess.

I have a 1920 census record from Civil District 5, Knox Co, TN. head of household - Charlie Webster (my g-grandfather), wife - Lizzie. At the end, there is a listing for Harvey Taylor, relationship - father, age 83, birthplace - Virginia. I think Harvey is Lizzie's father rather than Charlie's father.

By 1930, both Harvey and Lizzie were apparently dead and Charlie was living with one of Lizzie's sons.

This is all I know about Harvey. My mother doesn't know ANY of this side of her family--her father died when she was 5 years old, so we know very little.

You have been so nice and helpful, I hope we can help each other.
