William Beatty (1844-1913) was a portrait photographer in Sigourney, Iowa, from about 1870 until about 1905. I have a few portraits he did of family members but there must be hundreds of his photos in family collections. I would like to hear from anyone who has photographs by him. He also did many stereopticon photos.

I have one picture taken by Wm Beatty in Sigourney. It is a picture of my great grandfather's two daughters from his first marriage. Can send a digital image if you like.

I have an old picture of my great grandma Potts that was taken sometime in the late 1800 early 1900 by a Wm. Beatty Photographer in Sigourney, Iowa. It is on a cardboard type mounting. I am trying to find out my Great Grandma's first name. Will get back to you when I find out a little more about the picture. I can e-mail you a copy of the picture if you like, it is not in the best condition but it is all I have and I am trying to find out more about when it was taken and about how old my great grandma was in the picture, I have been told she was around 21 years old but I am not positive on that. Any help on the year would be wonderful. the year on the back is missing because someone had put tape on the back and it got pulled off. Thanks.

Please email me at mylesj33@comcast.net and send the photo as an attachment. Or send a regular xerox copy by mail. Wm. Beatty had his studio from about 1870 to 1890, so it would date from then.
