Looking for info regarding Allen and Dover ancestors, listed in census as living near Zanesville. My grandfather Harry Shelton Dover was born to William R. Dover and Louisa Allen in 1893, in Litchfield. I know William is the son of Henry P. Dover, while Louisa is the daughter of Shelton Allen and Mary Tennis, but have been unable to get much further information about them. Any leads you could provide would be much appreciated.

I came across the graves of Shelton Harmon Allen and Mary Catherine (Tennis) Allen at Allen Cemetery in Zanesville. Shelton's parents Rev. Robert Graham Allen and Agness Bramlett (Roland) Allen are also buried there. The pictures are posted on findagrave.com. There are MANY Allen and Tennis burials at this cemetery. The cemetery is in very bad shape and my mom and I are working to organize efforts to clean up the cemetery in the spring of 2009 as our Smith ancestors are also at this cemetery.

also buried in Allen Cemetery is Mary Louisa "Eliza" Allen Dover, daughter of Shelton Harmon and Mary Catherine Tennis Allen. Eliza married William Riley Dover 11 Aug 1887 in Montgomery County IL and had 9 children. The last 2 were twins Myrtle May and Mable Fay, both we believe buried with their monther in Allen. They died in infancy in 1905. Our records show Harry Shelton Dover b 17 Feb 1893 and d 31 Oct 1955 buried in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart IN.
