Holstein Grover Knight (1885-1943) married Julia Falkenheiner in 1915 in Concordia Parish, LA. They were divorced in 1928. Was his mother Della Holstein Knight (1863-1954)? What was the name of his father?

Doris, I believe that Adella Holstein Knight was Grover's mother. She was married to Elijah Knight in Catahoula Parish, and I understand that they had several sons.I would like whatever info you have on Holsteins of the 1900's, as I am very interested in them and have not researched the 1900's.I will be glad to share what I have on the Holstein line from Adella back several generations,as I descend from another Holstein. I know of at least one descendant of the Knights. If you are interested, email me privately.

Thanks for responding to my Catahoula Parish query. I recently realized I had practically nothing about my Aunt Julia's former husband, Holstein Grover Knight. I just recently got copies of the legal separation and divorce. I am not researching the Holstein family other than to have information about Grover Knight's parents. Thanks for responding!!

Capt. Elijah Knight, b. 27 Jan 1861, near Harrisonburg, Catahoula Parish, LA, son of Elihu and Eliza Jane Robertson Knight; attended school at Harrisonburg; worked as an apprentice on boats and after obtaining his license, he and his brother, George, entered the towing business with a steam tug and barge on the Ouachita, Boeuff, Black and Tensas Rivers. Elijah married 22 April 1884 to Adella M. Holstein, b. 24 Nov 1863, daughter of James Burrell and Laura Evans Holstein, at Harrisonburg, LA. He was later captain and master of Steamer Ouachita until 1901. He and his brother Captain George W. Knight ran the steamboat T. K. First: Holstein Grover Knight, b. 27 Sept 1885; m 15 May 1915, Julia E. Falkenheimer; no known children. He was a steamboat pilot on all rivers in the south; d. Dec 1943 at Ferriday, LA. He was buried at the Pine Hill Cemetery, Sicily Island, LA.
I have the other children and if I can scan it into my scanner (I'm having trouble with it right now) I will send the rest to you later. I don't have any more on the Holsteins, my line is from Eliza Jane Robertson Knight's sister Sarah Benetta Robertson Martin Wilson Johnson Adams. Sarah was married to my gg-grandfather Thomas Wilson abt. 1846/47 until he died in 1855. I have about 40 pages on the Knights. I wish I had that much on my Wilsons.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Martha, I read with interest your message about Elijah Knight and family. I am primarily interested in the Holsteins, but am collecting data on their descendants. I hope to put together a book on the Lovelaces, which will include the Holstein family. I would appreciate anything else you may have on the desc. of Elijah and Della.
Thanks,
Barbara

I am researching my gg grandfather Martin Van Wilson(b. 1826 in East Feliciana parish, d. 1863 Franklin Parish), who married Angelina Heard 26 Dec 1855 in Catahoula Par. a resident of Catahoula Parish (b. 1830 in MS, d. 1860 in Franklin/Catahoula Parish) and had two sons that I know of: Derrick January Wilson(b.1856 in Franklin/Catahoula Par. d. Apr 1891 in Lake Charles) and Martin Van Wilson. Derrick lived in Franklin Parish and later moved to Texas but worked in LA. I have not been able to find out anything more about Martin. I have records of Martin Van Wilson Sr's. father and grandfather willing to share.

Any connections?

Wilsons in Catahoula Parish 1800's

Martha, can you tell me the names of any children of Thomas and Sarah Robertson Wilson? And who is Martin Wilson Johnson Adams? I am looking for my g-grandfather Ezekiel Zachariah Reaves Wilson who married Adaline Elam in Catahoula Parish about 1875. One of their many children was my grandfather, James Edward Wilson, born there in 1882. He had a younger brother named Martin Wilson. Recently an older family member recalled that Zack's father may have been named Thomas. Thanks Ginny

Hi,

I know that the LIPSEY family moved in between Catahoula & Concordia Parishes back in the 1800's. They were first in Catahoula in 1860, and later in Concordia as best I can tell from my brief research.

I know that Tullis L. LIPSEY married Anna Dale WILSON on 20 August 1919. By the 1920 Census they had a daughter named Ella M. LIPSEY. Are you, perhaps, related to the WILSONs that Anna was related to???

Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Quite honestly, I just learned about her surname last night. I don't know anything about her parents yet. Thank goodness, the weekend is soon--ample time to research!

Thanks for your reply!

Don't recognize the name, who were here mother & father? Did they live in Catahoula Parish prior to her birth?
