They are not linked that I can find. My ancestor came from france to Port Allen area and the family stayed their. Zenon Lemoine came through New Orleans and went to Avoyelles Parish area and that is where they stayed for several genearations. I am of the Port Allen Lemoine's (West Baton Rouge Parish). I have some info to trade if needed. Or to give if you are just starting

I think that you will find that most Louisiana Lemoines are decendants of Guillaume Lemoine, borm in Le Havre in 1699, and married to Marie Sanmarine in New Orleans in 1725? Check out the books by Nelson Gremillion in the geneological library of the largest local library you can find.

I would be happy to share the info I have.

Gaston

My ancestor was Andre Lemoine b 1795 in ST Onge, France. His parents were Francois and Elizabeth Mollette. Andre married Brigitte Paliou. We know that Andre was baptised in Baton Rouge at the ST Joseph Church. he died in 1835. and is buried in St Joseph's Church. He dropped the LE in his name for some reason. As far as we know Andre came here without his parents. I am not sur about his siblings

Hey Gaston. I am a descendant of Guillaume by his children Jean Baptiste, Antoinette, Marie Jeanne and Marie Francois.

Got to be related to you!

How much do you know about this stuff. For several months I have been trying to figure out how Guillaume, his third wife Marie Joignard and her first husband Michel Lemoine, his forth wife Marie Magdeleine Cordier and her first husband Louis Robillard (who were all born in France) FIRST got to Illinois country (Kaskaskia and Fort Chartes) before 1723 and then all wound up in Pointe Coupee a few years later.

Have you noticed this? Any insight on how these people from France first settled Illinois then Louisiana?

I'll be glad to share whatever information I may have.

But don't get too proud (of ashamed) of Guillaume being the progenitor of all Louisiana Lemoine's. The Natchitoches based one's are actually descendants of Charles, son of Michel Lemoine and Marie Joignard. Guillaume was Charles step-father (marrying widow Joignard in 1742).

Hi Joe:

This is the first time I have heard that Guillaume had a wife named Marie Joignard, or that he came to Louisiana via Illinois. I am a descendant of Guillaume through his first wife, Marie L'Este Sanmarine, Jean Baptiste, etc, etc. Can you share where you got the info on wife no. three?

Judy

Joe,
Do you have a Gus/Augustus/Ougust LeMoine in your tree. I know he is from LA, but that is about all I know.
