I am looking for information on Orange Davis and Eliza Coulter (probably Eliza L. Coulter). They married in Jones County, MS in 1835 and later moved to Polk Co, TX. (Between 1850 and 1860). They had several children including Warren, Columbus, Ransom, Amanda.

If anyone has any information on the family of either Orange Davis or Eliza Coulter Davis (who went by Eliza L. Davis), including the names of their parents or siblings, it would be greatly appreciated.

Where was Orange Davis born?

I have Robert Harrison Davis who was in Jones Co. Ms in 1860. They were in Sumter Ala in 1850 and were from Coweta Co. GA.

Orange Davis (and his brother John C. Davis) were both born in South Carolina. I believe Orange Davis was in Jones County, MS by at least 1835 (he was born about 1810). He and his brother moved to Polk County, TX in about 1856.

My line is thru Orange and Elizabeth Davis son Francis Marion. Just wandered where you found Elizabeth's maiden name? Also Orange had a brother named Bryan also. I met one of his gg grandchildren.

Elizabeth's (Eliza) maiden name was given to me via email from Juanita Davis McClendon (great-grandaughter of Columbus Davis, one of Orange and Eliza's sons). She said her grandfather, Van Dorn Davis tolder her Eliza's maiden name was Colter (or Coulter). So far I haven't found an official record with Eliza's maiden name on it. Any information you might have would be appreciated.

I noticed you referred to Orange and Elizabeth Davis son as Francis Marion. I've only seen him listed as Marion. Do you have records of his full name?

Do you have any more information on Orange's brother Bryan? That's the first I've heard of that name. I have a record of Orange's brother John C. Davis, but not Bryan.

I went to a cemetary meeting in Polk County and met a grandson of Bryan Davis. I am going to his house when
school is out to speak with him and see what info. he
has.
Yes I have documents on Marion's name being Francis Marion
Davis. I have been doing research for a long time.
I have all Orange's family on my family work sheets. Do not have his parents tho. I think his father was named William not proven tho. The Coulter family lived in Cov.
County Miss. The only Davis there with a male the right age

I believe my husbands line also goes thru (Francis) Marion Davis. His son Aaron is the father of my husbands grandmother. I have no 100% paper proof because I am trying to go from now (2012) following them back and getting documents to prove as I go. I am able to go to 1910 and then I lose them until 1880 and that is a big jump for me since Aaron and his brother Lazarus(names I got from Grandma) are not on the 1880 polk county census with them. Is there some way you can help me with varifying this, it sounds as if you might be on the same family line as he is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
