Ashkar family from Beit Chabab
I am looking for information on the Ashkars of Beit Chabab. My father was Joseph Ferris (Ashkar) and my grandparents were Ferris and Jamilia Ashkar. They immigrated with one other child, a girl called Nabbie, in about 1912. Does anyone have information about this clan?

Ashkar family ( I am one of them) has very old roots in Syria and Lebanon; I do remember that my grandfather told me that the family started few hundred years ago in a town in southern Syria, then some moved north to Damascus, and some to mount Lebanon ( bet shabab) then spread from there. I have some more info if you are interested…

HI Ayham, Do you have any information about Khaled fouad Achkar? He was/is from Syria, LAtakya, but lived some time in Lebanon. He is born December 28, 1949. Do you know if surname Ashkar and Achkar belong to the same family or they are different? He is my father and i am trying to find him. Thanks

Re: Ashkar family from Beit Chabab
I dont have any documents, but my dad claimed to be descended from this clan. He said they were Lebanese Christians, descended from Crusaders who invaded and then settled centuries ago. He and his family immigrated to NY around 1913. Is that consistent with your family lore?
