Surnames: Small, McCarthy, Torrelli, DeGallo
Owen Small and Mary McCarthy had Alice (b 1877 in MA), Peter (b 1879 in MA), William Owen (b 1880 in MA), Thomas (b 1882, d 1884 in MA), Francis (b 1884 in MA), Theresa (b 1886 in CT), Elmer (b 1888 in CT) and Ruth (b 1891 in CT).

There was said to have been more children but I do not have the information on them.

Mary McCarthy Small married Joseph J Torrelli/Terilli in 1893 in CT. They moved to WA between 1900 and 1910 (per US Census Records).

Her sons - Peter, William Owen and Elmer Harrison also moved to WA.

Her daughter - Theresa married John Edward DeGallo (b CT)about 1907. They also resided in WA.

I am interested in finding out more about this fammily and their descendants.

I have more specific information on some of these people if you need it.

Thank you all in advance.

My grandmother was Theresa DeGallo. She was married to John. They built a home in Seattle. They lived there until they died. Elmer lived with them until he dissapeared. I would love to learn more about the family.

Theresa's father was Owen Small, the brother of James Arthur Small, who was my grandfather.
Elmer married Flora Cleman between 1920 and 1926. He died 5 Mar 1926 in Tacoma, Washington.
I'd be happy to provide any information I have about the family.

How did you get this imformation on Elmer? My mother always said he dissapeared. My mother was John and Theresa's only child. My mother had seven children. I am the middle of my family. My mother's name was Mary Rose DeGallo. How do I get to talk to you to see what you have, and what I can help you with. I am still wondering about Elmer. It was my understending that he lived with my grandparents until he dissapeared. My mom always said he had the room across from hers, but if he died in 1926, she would have been only two or three years old. Ithought she was older when he dissapeared. How long have you been doing this research?

I spoke with my brother last night, and he said the uncle that dissapeared was Billy not Elmer. He said our mom remembered visiting Elmer in a military hospital as a small child. She was fond of Uncle Billy and named one of my brothers after him. Billy lived with my grandparents until he dissapeared.

Uncle Billy must have been William Owen Small (b 6 Aug 1880, in Boston, Massachusetts). My last reference to him was the 1920 US Census - at which time he was living with his brother Peter.

Yes that would be him. My brother Bill took all my mom's and grandparents pictures home to Arizona. He works out west. He said he will bring them back later this year. He thought you may be interested in some, as you my be able to figure out who some of the people are. Some appear to have been taken back east. I will look further into my moms things to see if I can figure out when William dissapeared.I guess that story always was interesting to me.My mom was born in 1923. I beleave she was around 10 when he dissapeared. My mom also went back east two times to help some relatives out. I think one was ill or injured.

I would be delighted to see the pictures. As of now I do not have any photos of Owen Small's descendants.

Are the pictures on your computer? If so you could email them to me as an attachment.

Your great grandfather, Owen Small, had a sister, Catherine, who was born in Massachusetts in 1848. She was in the US Censuses for 1850 and 1860, but we can't find her after that. According to her mother she was living in 1900. I assume we lost track of her when she got married but haven't been able to locate a marriage record for her. Any information on her would be appreciated.

What information on my side of the family are you interested in - I'd be happy to provide it if I know it.

Josephine
