You guys have just woke me up! What are the chances of the Pentons of Joe Batts Arm being a name change after being a Patten in Grand Bank and moving to Joe Batts Arm? I am up against a brick wall in finding the others in this famliy and have found that some of them spelled it Petten. Emberbly is also someone that has come up recently who left GB. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Annie

I have a fairly extensive set of descendants of Thomas and Bridget, but I expect you are looking for ancestors, of which I know nothing! I have Thomas as being born in Joe Batt's Arm in about 1793, which would seem to imply that he is not the start of the JBA Pentons! Contact me if you are interested in descendants.

I have an Ignatius Penton married to a ? Head of JBA. This Ignatius was born in 1944, the son of Charles Penton and Hilda Waterman. He had two brothers, John Henry and Harold and two sisters, Philomena and Nellie. If this is the correct Ignatius Penton, I have no information about descendants, but can provide ancestors back to Thomas Penten [born about 1793] and Bridget Emberley, also of JBA. Let me know if you want further information.

AMOS161, you have Thomas Penton born in JBA in 1793, how did you come to this. I have him born at that time ( "Thos Pynton "Convert" Aged 67 (Baptized Feb 1 1860" PANL) but no evidence of where he was born or how he came to Joe
Batt's Arm.

Sorry about the delay in responding!
I received a whole file of PENTON information from a family member, with little or no evidence for its correctness, SO I cannot justify the birthplace of John PENTON, b. 1793 except to say that this information is included in the file I received.

Did you find the info you were looking for on Thomas and Bridget of Joe Batt's Arm? I have done a little research into the Penton family tree but don't have a lot of detail -- just some children and parents

Dennis -- forgot to tell you. Thomas and Bridget were not -- according to the research information I received -- the starters of the Penton Line. I believe it was a man named Richard Penton.
