I am living in Scotland and interested in William Walker (married to Margaret Kerr) and his decendants who immigrated to Alberta at sometime between 1901 and 1914. He was listed as next of kin on one of his son's attestation papers for WWI, his address is given simply as, "Vermilion". William and Margaret had 11 children, including 8 sons. (all born Dumbarton, Scotland.)
Alexander (born) 1874
Maggie Law 1877
John 1879
Helen 1881
William Robert 1883 Married to Mabel. Willow cottage,Cathedral close, Edmonton, Chaplain WWI.
Thomas 1885
George Blackie 1888
James 1890
Catherine Lyall 1893
Francis Heddell 1895
Anderson Reid 1898 Single, died Vimy Ridge.

Any information/contacts would be greatly appreciated.

I'm replying on your interest on William Walker, he is my grandfather, but is not married to whom you have listed, for this must be a different William you speak of, my grandfather does live here. I hope this helped some.

Hi there
I think I have the correct couple and have managed to track down some of the living decendents and confirmed the situation. I believe that Margaret Kerr actually died in Scotland and did not travel to Vermilion? Could William have re-married?
I am particularly interested in the fate of Francis Heddell Walker who seems to have vannished without a trace?

Graeme
