Looking for info on Levi and Isabella Elizabeth Bryson Mathis
home place and burial site etc.

I live in Jackson County and am currently working on my family tree which has Levi J. Mathis and wife, Ibbie Elizabeth Bryson are a part. They are both buried at the Mathis Cemetery, in Canada. Levi J. Mathis was born September 7, 1837 and died on October 14, 1912. Ibbie Elizabeth Bryson was born 1842 and died February 17, 1908. I also have a list of their children if you need it. Levi is my great, great, great grandfather. If you have any information regarding Levi's father etc., please let me know.

Also, there is a yearly "decoration" at the Mathis Cemetery every year on the third Sunday in September beginning at 10:00 am. Relatives bring flowers and decorate the graves and we have a "church service" (singing, preaching).

hi angie, thanks for the info. Levi and Elizabeth Bryson were also my great, great grandparents on the Mathis side.
Levi's father was Peter Mathis Sr. and I am not sure who his mother was. I have found that Peter was born in Mecklenburg Co. N.C. and Married Estella Caroline Parker on August ll, l839 in Haywood County. He had one son Levi Jefferson Mathis born in 1837, which would have made him about 2 yrs old when Peter married Estella Parker. Levi may have had a sister Lettie. The reason I believe this is that Peter and Estella's children James, Polly, Andrew and Anna Jane used the last name Matthews, why I don't know. If you find out any more, please let me know. In the 1880 Jackson Co. census, Peter's age is 89, if this is his true age he could of been born as early as 1791.

NC census.), son of ALFRED COGGINS. She married (2) DANIEL WILLIAMS 20 November 1898 in Jackson Co. NC (Source: Jackson Co. marriages).

(uncertain at this point if Jane belongs to Sally and Peter)
