I believe I have found my ggggg grandfather on a French and Indian War enlistment roster. Of course all they have on there is his name, what company he was in and that it was in the colony of Virginia. I can't find any information in the National Archives regarding French & Indian War enlistment. I was hoping that I may be able to get more information to be able to determine if this is my ancestor.

Am I looking in the wrong place? Should I be looking in the British military archives or would they even have it available. Does anyone know how I could get more information?
I went ahead and attached the document I found from ancestery.com. My person of interest is Edward Swanson and he is on the payroll of CAPT. Spotswood's Company, 16 October, 1755.

What you posted is not a document, it is a transcript of something published in a book.

Locate the book and look in the introduction to see what the source is, then get a copy of the original document. It may tell you more, such as whether the Company was in the Virginia Regiment or was a militia unit raised temporarily.

While you are looking at the book, be sure to write down author, title, publication data.

Often members of one Company were from the same geographic area of residence, but this was not true for 1754-mid 1755 when there was considerable recruitment for specific campaigns.
