PLEASE PLEASE !!! There has to be someone out there with information on Joseph or Alley Carter from SC residing in Minden, Webster Parish Louisiana in 1870. I know that he had a farm and he was supposed to be a free man with papers during slavery. ANY information will be greatly appreciated.

I have emailed you before about the Carter family long ago.
Joseph Carter and Alice Jones or Wright lived in Claiborne Parish in 1870 because Webster did not exist at that time Webster Parish was created in about 1881 or so. Joseph Carter and Alice Jones or Wright were married in I believe slavery about 1850. The parish of Claiborne does have some material on the Joseph Carter family many left Claiborne in the 1920's or early 1930 after the oil was beginning to pay off for some who left the state of Louisiana. My grandmother Joseph and Allie's Granddaughter told me that the family had to move because the crops would not grow well because the soil contained to much Oil. I am positive of this and the census contains the Oil and Gas Field information of them and there neighbors.
I would be interested in exchanging information on these folks if you are interested.
