As far as info on Sherwood, anything at all. I've tracked my family back to Sherwood but have run into a wall and can't find anything beyond him. Might just be I don't know where to look.

I just started my ancestry trek back several months ago. If your great-great grandfather was Martin C Ross, then we're cousins. My great-great grandfather was Thomas Simeon Ross, and they were brothers (father was Sherwood Wilson Ross and mother was Drucilla Bivens). Their grave markers are at Faulk's Baptist Church in Marshville (http://www.faulksbc.org/).

Sherwood dates - (b: 15 Mar 1829 and d: 25 Jun 1894)
Drucilla Bivens dates (b: 29 Nov 1851, d: 25 Oct 1931, married: 27 Jul 1874).

Been a while.
From what I've seen, the Sherwood Wilson Ross you found, son of Green Davin and Margaret Elizabeth died in Oregon. The Sherwood I'm looking for is the Sherwood Ross, husband of Drucilla, father of those you've listed and buried in Faulks Creek.
Of course, I could be wrong.

I'm still stuck there too. I can't find anything to validate the connection there. I guess something will turn up eventually.

Sherwood Ross first wife was Mary Snider, Marriage date is March 18, 1855. Mary had four children with Sherwood that I know of. Two are buried in the same cemetery as Mary, Bivens-Ross Cemetery in Lanes Creek, NC. You can access it on the Internet w/picture of Mary's grave. After Mary died Sherwood married Drucilla Bivens. Sherwood's childen with Mary are Mary E., John E, Sherwood F. Ross and Martin Ross.
The first two died at a very young age. Sherwood F. Ross in 1889.
