can't delete folder in /genealogy_html

(I use CuteFTP to access my freepages account)

I created a folder today under /genealogy_html, changed my mind and tried to delete it. I get "request denied";

550 Remove directory operation failed.
ERROR:> Requested action not taken (e.g., file or directory not found, no access).

I have deleted folders in /genealogy_html before - has something on the freepages server changed?

thanks, beth

Sheri,

I don't understand. In CuteFTP, you use Delete, no matter if it is a file or a folder. There is no 'Delete Subdirectory'.

Something has changed in the freepages environment, as I have deleted folders before; now I cannot.

thanks, beth

Sometimes I unthinkingly hit the delete button to get rid of a folder
instead of the 'Delete Subdirectory' and it takes me a minute to figure out
why it won't delete. If it is a folder[sub-directory] it will only delete
when you hit the 'Delete Subdirectory' button. But I have a lot of strange
moments of forgetfulness particularyly if I am busy.:o)

I also have a folder that refuses to delete. I did remove all the files from the folder though, so it's not a big deal. Just kind of annoying.

Hi,

I'm not sure whether this applies here, but the folder's attributes may be set to writeprotect.

http://www.stadtaus.com/en/tutorials/chmod-ftp-file-permissi... shows options for changing the attributes using different file managers.
