I received an inquiry from someone asking if I was related to a certain person. I looked up this person, and they were in my tree with a mother, but not connected to anyone else. Is it possible for someone to add names to my tree without my knowledge? The names are not familiar to me at all. Or did I do it one night when I was really, really sleepy?

Only you or someone you have invited to your tree and given 'Editor' status can add people to your tree.

Here is a more likely explanation - these probably are "tree orphans" who at one point were connected to someone you entered but then deleted. When you delete someone entirely (who is not a duplicate), you need to start at the outer edges (that is, first delete their parents, grandparents, etc., starting with the earliest, then delete their children or grandchildren, starting with the latest, then delete the spouse and anything about the spouse's family, and only then delete the person you initially had in mind to remove).

In your case, for instance, you may have decided that a particular man did not belong in the tree, but did not follow this process and as a result left in the tree his wife and child (the person about whom you received an inquiry).
