Wilmer R. Young ( born 1884, died 1951) was the husband of Doshie Laurence. I was in Farmington last week at the library and found Wilmer but have not found any data on Doshie, when and where they were married, their daughter, or grandson. They are not in the 1930 census index on Ancestry.com. Doshie is the half-sister of my grandfather. Do you have any data on the pair? I'm willing to trade laurence information. Even though my surname is Young I am not related to Wilmer.

Hi Larry - Just found your message from a couple of years ago concerning Wilmer and Doshie Young. Wilmer was related to me through his garndfather, James M Young, whose son, Joseph Newton Young, was my great grandfather.
I don't have any info on Doshie other than this probate info.
!Probate: St. Francois Co. Mo. Probate Intestate--Wilmer Rufus Young Doshie Young, widow of St. Francois Co. Sisters--Hester Woodard of St. Francois Co., Susie barton of St. Louis, Elsie Petire of St. Francois Co., deceased sister Laura Mosgrove's daughters Julia Eaton & Irene Jamison. Brothers--Clarence Young of Evansville, Indiana, deceased brother Andrew's sons Lawrence of St. Francois Co., Harry of St. Louis, Floy of St. Louis, also brother Lee of St. Louis Cozean Funeral Home
So apparently they had no children.

Hi Linda:
Thanks for the response. Now I have to go back and see what I posted. I rarely use the e-mail address that I had when I posted that message; I haven't cancelled it only because every once in a while a message comes in (as well as huge amounts of spam) such as yours. Meanwhile I have finally found information on Wilmer and Dosh after three trips to the Farmington library over the last few years. While they did not have any children, Doshie did from two previous marriages that I have found. Only a grandson is living, a Wilmer C. Brillhart, but I've not yet located him. Perhaps someone in your family who remembers Wilmer and Doshie may recall the grandson.
Thanks again,
Larry

Someone who remembers them...wow...I can't think of anyone except my dad's cousin, Benjamin Young. I will see if I can get an answer through his granddaughter, Laura Chandia.

Hi , I too am related to Wilmer through his grandfather,James M. Young whose son Joseph Newton Young, is my great great grandfather. My grandfather, Joseph Benjamin Young is still living at 94 years old and he is still very sharp. I will phone him to see if he has any recollection of Wilmer and that side of the family. I hope he may be able to help.

Hi William
I know Wilmer what is your relationship to wilmer
|
Wilmer Brillhart is the grandson of Doshie Laurence. Doshie is a half sister to my grandfather Samuel Laurence so Wilmer and I are cousins. I have been to Farmington and finally found Doshie's unmarked grave next to Wilmer's mother's grave. Right now without digging back into my notes I do not recall the cemetery only that it was outside of town and hard to find. I can share my Laurence history with Wilmer. William Young, as I recall, was Dosie's third husband. If Wilmer is interested let me have contact information for him or he can contact me through this site.
Thank you.

Doshie was married 2 or three times. The first time to a plantation owner (they say lots of money and land) not sure his name. Then to a randallman then to Wilmer Young..She had two girls. Not sure who fathered the girls. They went by Randallman. One died in a motorcycle accident (Kate may have been her name)the other was Genavene.(Not sure of spelling) Genavene was married to a Brillhart. Wilmer C Brillhart was Genavene"s son. Wilmer C. was named after Wilmer Young. Wilmer Young Killed himself when Wilmer C was around 10. Not sure if Doshie and Wilmer were ever officially married because he either didnt have a will or they werent married so she got to live in the house and the family inherited his assets. She was living in the home around 1967 when a home health nurse would come in and care for her. She died around 1971 or 1972 of old age in Farmington. Not sure if she died at home or in a nursing home. Doshie did go by Young but she may have officially have been Randallman in the census information. Hope this helps
