Looking for info on families "Isern" & "Mas" from Tossa de Mar Gerona. They migrated to Caguas Puerto Rico in mid 1800's.

I live in Waukegan, IL (USA). One of my last names is "Mass". I've always wondered if that is the correct spelling. I also am searching for my family out there with same surname. I do know that my great great grandmother (on my father's side was Maruca Mass. She came to Puerto Rico from Spain. My dad can't remember his gggrandfathers name. My dad is living in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. Good Luck in your search.

I have never seen the Mas name spelled with a double "s" so I'm not sure if they are considered the same name. As far as my line, none are spelled with double "s". The Mas family came to Puerto Rico from Gerona Spain in the mid 1800's and settled in Caguas. Eventually they spread around but most settled there.

Josefa Aponte Rotger,hija del terrateniente Don Jose Maria Aponte yDelgado ,de la familia fundadora de los pueblos de Caguas y San Lorenzo

WITH MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER JOAQUINA MELENDREZ AGE 36, HER NAME HAS BEEN SPELLED WRONG, and i think the santiago could be my great great granfather that was in the 1910 census with mt great grandmother.please let me know I feel thier is something her I called my mother and she is willing to speak to you all aswell.
