Dear Chris,
I am the great- granddaughter of Rocco and Rosa Marino.
Their daughter, Margerite emigrated to the U.S. as a teenager from the Naples area and met Carlo Di Sessa (also changed to De Sessa), from Northern Italy in the Po River Valley."Charles" and "Margaret" were married in the early 19-teens and settled in Millburn, NJ. They had five children, Rose Marie (deceased), Mildred (deceased), Daniel Anthony,
Anthony (deceased), and Rocco (deceased). I am the daughter of Daniel Anthony, and one of his 5 children.
Perhaps we are related. I had heard that there is a group of De Sessas in the Mississippi area. Give a yell if you would like to compare notes. Thanks.

Mary Ellen De Sessa Davis

Dear Mary Ellen,

I know my Grandfather's family orignally came from somewhere north, however I wouldn't have a clue as to where. Were any of your Di Sessas from Santa Maria Di Castellabate? When your family imigrated to USA where did they go?

I've got to go to work...write back...I have to dig out my research...its been a while....regards, Peggy

Hi Mary Ellen,
It's so nice to come in contact with another De Sessa. For years, before the Internet, I thought that I was the only one. My family comes from a small little town on the coast near Naples called Santa Maria di Castellabate. I visited there and stayed with my grandmother's side-The Malzones.
Yes, I would like to compare notes. I found that a famous man named "Sessa" printed the original Travels of Marco Polo. They lived near Venice. It would be great to compare notes. Stay in touch fellow "De Sessa". Let me know if you have more information about the family. I will ask my father about his uncles.
Sincerely,
Chris De Sessa

Surnames: Di Sessa/Piscopo
My great grandmother was Fedela Di Sessa (have seen it spelled De Sessa, Sessa, even Sesse), who is presumed to be from Avellino, maybe Taurasi where the Piscopos are from. She was born in Italy in 1878 and died in 1929 in Newton. She is buried with most of her children at St. Joseph's in West Roxbury, MA. Fedela lived in Winthrop during the marriage to my great-grandfather, Benjamin Piscopo and then moved to Newton after the divorce. I saw the roots web which indicated that her parents were Francesco di Sessa and Mariagela di Sessa, but am not 100% certain. Does any of this sound like it has connections with your di Sessa family? I can't locate any info on her family.
