I am looking for info on the following: FLOYD BRASSFIELD, b. October 29, 1911, Arkansas; d. May 1975, lived Mccurtain, Haskell County, Oklahoma.
HARMON BRASSFIELD, b. March 05, 1914, Arkansas; d. August 18, 1998, lived Bokoshe, LeFlore County, Oklahoma.

Are they brothers? Are they sons of Ulysses Grant BRASSFIELD? I am interested in Ulysses Grant Brassfield's 2nd marriage?

Hello Norman,

There were no Bassfield's listed on any Census pages for any year. There were 18 Bassfield's listed on the 1920 census 17 of them being black and all lived in eastern and northern states.

There were 14 listed on the 1910 Census 13, black and same states as above.

There were 8 listed on the 1900 census 4 black, 4 white, same states as above.

There were 5 listed on the 1870 Census 1 black 1 white mostly all in Missouri, 1 in VA. 1 in AL.
I don't know where the Bassfield name came from but Oklahoma and Arkansas were all listed as Brassfield's.

Series: T625 Roll: 1462 Page: 94 PAGE ONE
Series: T625 Roll: 1462 Page: 94 PAGE TWO
Last name on page listed as:

BRASSFIELD GRANT B 31 M W AR OK HASKELL BEAVER Feb. 14, 1920 is listed on the 1920 Census. HIs parents were both listed as being born in Arkansas and he was an agricultural farmer.

His wife was listed on page two as Rosa M. age 31 born Ark. & both parents as well. The children were listed as follows:
Vestus, daughter 10, single, AR.
Floyd, son, 8, single, AR. (Probably Your Floyd)
Harrison, son, 7 single, AR. (Probably Your Harmon)
Goldie, daughter 2, single, AR.

The only Harmon I found was born in 1918 and was living in another county.

Hope this helps.

Donna

I read your posting re Harmon Brassfield. Yes...they are brothers and Ulysses or Grant as most called him was their father. Harmon or HAA. was my grandfather.

Can you write me at njdavis@cableone.net
I want to ask about Grant Brassfield. His daughter by his 2nd marriage was half-sister to my Grandfather.

Dear Vicki
I feel I know you because as I continue my Inman search, you keep popping up with the most correct, detailed and intereting bits of information!
I am descended from Abednego White's daughter Mary Ann who married James Alexander Workman.

I am searching for DAR connection and will be happy to share any info I find. We will be stopping in Inman Cemetery in Rutherford/Martin CO Indiana and in Dandridge TN in Oct 09. I will be taking a LOT of pictures and will be happy to share and also to do any search that interests you
I have contacted Dubois County Gen/Hist societies for any info they might have on the murder you mentioned! That was quite an interesting turn of events! I am sure you have made the same inquiry but will be happy to share any info I receive.
Thanks again for all your efforts! They are definitely appreciated. You have inspired me to start adding pix.
