My dad is Lester Pendergraft, son of Hugh, son of Ellis Webb, son of Joseph, son of Thomas, son of Job Pendergrass, son of William, son of Robert, son of John, son of Michael, son of James. Here it gets a little murkey as Philip, the first Prendergast, who came to Virginia in 1643 as an indentured servant and indentured himself twice more, was the first known immigrant of this surname in Virginia. There is much more in Allen Pendegraft's Pendergrass of Virginia and the Carolinas. There is a copy at the University of Virginia in Richmond that you might be able to get on interlibrary loan. My grandmother's name was Bertha Mae Pendergraft. She was married to Freddie Wilson. Her father was Theordore William Pendergraft, His father was Samuel Auguste Pendergraft, His father was Job Pendergraft. His father was Samuel Cornell "Charnal" Pendergraft. His father was Job Pendergrass. Then William Pendergrass, Robert Pendergrass, John Pendergrass, Michael Pendergrass,James Pendergrass and Philip Pendergrast. My mother was Elsie Lee Wilson. My grandmother died in 1975.
