I'm a African American descendant of the slaves of Adam Lanehart. The Lanehart family at one time owned at least 500 acres near Wilkinson Co. Miss on Buffalo River. I made copies of succession papers listing names of the seven slaves belonging to Adam Lanehart prior to his death in 1824.

Hello

I am researching the Brice and Lanehart surname for my friend who is descended from the mulatto Brices there in Wilkinson, Mississippi. The matriarch's maiden name was Lanehart or Landhart. In the 1870 census Brice is spelled incorrectly as Bries for the family of Lewis and Lydia Lanehart Brice.

Yes. I believe Lydia is the daughter of Jane "Jennie" Lanehart, my ggg aunt. What is your lineage from Louis and Lydia Lanehart Brice? I have the succession of Abraham Lanehart where slaves Lydia and Jennie are mentioned. Jennie is probably the half sister of Abraham

I visited the Wilkinson co courthouse several years ago. After Adam Rinehart died in 1824, his slaves were hired out. Their names were simeon, jennie, dorcas, prince, kitty and nancy.
