Hi Anne,

We have Stewart ancestors who were in the West Indies circa 1800-1850 or more, and they were connected with Turnbulls from Dundee, Scotland, & Northumberland. Some of the Stewarts were born in the Carribean- on one census it said Cuba, on another it said West Indies BS (Barbados?), but family legend says they stayed with the governor of Jamaica. One wedding certificate talks of David Whire Ridley Turnbull of Porto Rico marrying Frances Middleton of Durham, in 1848, in Newcastle.

I'm still trying to sort out which islands exactly, they had plantations in (cotton).
Kind regards, Ian

Ian Stewart-Koster

Hello, Are u still looking for Stockhausen/OMeally/Sicard/Turnbull connections? A few years have passed by, but I have only recently started my own hunt!
My grandmother was a daughter of Eliza Sicard of York Castle, Jamaica. She was Eugenie South(nee OMeally), and her two elder sisters Ellen and Louise married 2 Stockhausen brothers Charles and Fred - according to my late Aunt Iris' family chart.
I am finding the Sicard ancestry very confusing, with the OMeally line of Patrick Mitchell OMeally virtually untraceable, so far.
I live in the UK now, where in the world are U?
