I am looking for burial information for Catherine Ikerd born 1847 in either Wayne or Lauderdale County. She was married to John Landrum in 1889 and was with him when she passed sometime between 1900 and 1910 in Jackson County MS. Family researchers have said she was buried in either Wayne or Lauderdale but I can find no records supporting that or that she was buried in Jackson County somewhere. I would appreciate any help locating this burial.

Catherine is on the 1850 census in Lauderdale Co, Ms, household 836, family 849.

Thank you for posting. I have all of her census information. I really am only looking for her place of burial if I can find it. I am looking for the same thing for her father, Lawson Ikerd but I'm not having much luck. I haven't been able to determine if there is any type of sexton information anyplace that would have burial info. I don't think the family got a death certificate for her either because at the time the weren't required.

Death certs were not issued in Mississippi until 1912 and in some areas of the state later than that. I have several ancestors who died in the same time period and have been unable to locate their burial place even though I know for sure the area they died. I figure they had wooden markers that were not replaced by an expensive stone marker that had to be ordered and shipped from Mobile or New Orleans.

Thanks rd. I'd write to the state to see if they had one on file but I don't even know the exact date and I don't think they will do any type of searches. When I was down a few years ago, I searched everyplace I could think of to find SOMETHING. It's difficult. I'm also trying to locate her parents' burial info and again, that is a going no where. I'll have to keep looking. Thanks.
