McGill and Brown family deaths

I am looking for death information on Patrick John (JP) McGill and his wife Alfrida (Frida) Augusta McGill (nee Brown). I located them living at San Juan Island, San Juan County, WA in 1910 along with two of their three sons Alton B McGill (age 5) and Leo M B McGill (age 3). Leo was born in Washington State according to the census. The couple had their 3rd son, James McGill in about 1911 in Washington. I have a possible death date for Alfrida of 15 Feb 1912. The kids are found in the 1920 census living with Patrick's mother Winifred McGill in Minnesota.
I checked the San Juan County cemeteries but there are no McGill's listed. I am not new to genealogy but new to Washington State resources. Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you,
Laura Schroeder
Minnesota
P.S. Patrick was born about 1879 in Canada, his wife Alfrida Brown was born in 7 January 1880 in Sweden.

Hi Maggie,
So glad to hear from you. I also received your email via ancestry. I am happy to share the info I have and find out more about your grandparents. As you could tell from my posting I didn't have a lot.
I have lots of Swedish records too...I'll have to look and see what I have on Frida.
I am in Minnesota too...between St. Cloud and the Twin Cities. Should connect off-list. My most recent worldconnect data and email address can be found at

Hi Laura
I looked at what you have,
most of mystuff is put on a program called Family TRee maker(version 16)
I do have a lot of info for you well what you may want is up to you. I am more than willing ot help you as well. I am pretty much stuck on Leo and James McGill as they were not real good at saying connected with their brother Alton. so my infor is pretty limited. But i can tell you about Alton and his children that i do know and do have some fun fact for you as well. Alton was a wonderful man who Married Dorothy Elizabeth McGhie, and had 4 children, JOhn Patrick 1931,Robert Peter 1933, Elizabeth Ann 1934 and Alton Bernard 1941. Robert died in 1968,all the rest are still alive and live in different states.
call me some time 507.280.4478 or at least tell me some details and what you are looking for, like where do you fall as far as in the line of relatives with them.

Thanks for getting back to me

Maggie

The Washington State Library has a free research program where they will look for information in the archives, in this case the newspaper microfilm for an event, such as an obituary. They will look up to an hour and send you the results. Contact them at: http://www.secstate.wa.gov/library/ask.aspx . Depending on the amount of requests, it could take up to a couple of weeks

Hi Maggie,
I am related to this line through Alfrida Augusta Brown's older sister, Anna Christina Brown who married Thomander Swan Thompson. They had 10 children and later divorced. My great-grandmother was their daughter Bertha Ingeborg Thompson Cameron...she also later married a Skoog so you might see her with that surname.
I'll take a look at what I have and may need...might have to be later this week...maybe Friday, 4/17 before I get to it. I also use FTM version 16.
Great to connect with you! Laura

Hi Maggie,
I've looked through my Brown family paperwork. I have lots of Swedish records; not Alfrida's birth entry tho...I'm not sure if that year's record was available. I do have some of her siblings birth entries as well as her parents marriage and different 'household examination' records which are Sweden's equivelant of our census. I also have some correspondence with other cousins of bible entries etc. I can send you copies of whatever you would like. We have a Skog family cousin still in Sweden and he has that family's data very far back. Skog was Alfrida's grandfather's surname (Jacob (Bruhn) Brown's father). I would love to know the details of Frida and John McGill's family. You are my only family connection to them. I can get you in touch with other cousins from various lines...I have one from Nannie Hildegard Gray's line, one from Hilma Henrietta Woodard's line, some from my line (Anna Christina Thompson), and of course the Skog line in Sweden. Oh, and Jacob Bruhn Gustafson Skog (Jacob Brown) had a sister that immigrated to the US as well and I have contacts from her family. Please email me off-list your address and I will send copies of the items that I mentioned. If you can send me a gedcom file or report of your McGill family data (maybe just from John Patrick McGill's parents on forward). I would love any photos of Frida and John and/or their children if you have them as well. I do have one photo of Jacob Brown and his wife Hanna from the Kittson county history I will send. Also any supporting documentation that you can share would be helpful...birth, death, newspaper, etc. I will send you my address of list as well. ljschroeder@netzero.com.
