It would appear from the above information that ISHAM DUNN was b. in 1803 in TN, and left TN for KY prior to the 1827 birth of his dau. MARY J. DUNN in 1827. He and his family were in IL by the 1831 birth of his son LEVI. Now if this DUNN line was connected to my JAMES BARNEY DUNN in Henderson Co. TN, the move to KY was not far geographically. Some of the families from Henderson, Carroll and Henry Co. TN moved into Calloway Co. KY just across the state borderline, and later to So. IL.

This would be the senior member of this DUNN line, and as he was in the Rev. War there will be records on him. The only land records that I found on-line for a SHADRACK DUNN were from Morgan and Cass counties near Spriingfield, IL. Maybe it is the same man, and maybe not.

I just took a quick look through the census book for 1860 and it appears that the above DUNN and FARLESS families may have left Johnson Co. I did find a few FARLESS families, but none that I could confidently connect to the ones above. I also checked ETTA JONES NIBLOCK'S papers and did not find a death record for SHADRACK or ISHAM DUNN. Doesn't mean they didn't die there, I just don't have a record of it. They may be mentioned in the cemetery records that I have, but I haven't taken the time to check.

I also checked the 1870 census book and did not find a SAMUEL LEMMONS or an ELIZABETH LEMMONS. (This in response to a private email that stated that ELIZABETH DUNN married 1st to RICHARD FARLESS/FAIRLESS and 2nd, after his death in the Civil War, to SAMUEL LEMMONS. CKM)

I'm looking for the ancestors of Jimmie Evrett Fairless, b: 1918 in Mead, Oklahoma; Jim died in 1990 at Antlers, Oklahoma. He was married to Beulah Lee Bates.

Jerry Bob Jenkins' sister has a family tree I wish we both had. Mom is an Oglesby & she comes to that reunion. I know we are related to the Bates but I don't know just how.

Thank you for answering my query. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know who Marlin is. The way I understand the Fairless history: (from Uncle Dub & Dad), Marlin's grandfather and my Dad's grandfather were cousins. They have told me that Jim's dad's name was Ort Orlando Fairless. I have located him as Arthur Arlando Fairless & as Art Arlando Fairless, and according to census, WWI Registration, and Jim's birth certificate, he was born in Illinois.

I have been trying to figure out who his parents were and if he had any brothers or sisters. Dad, Uncle Dub, Aunt Dee, & Aunt Ruby don't remember much about him. Except that they thought AAF's father's name was Oberlando Fairless, but they weren't sure.

AAF married a second time to Ruby Doshea Farmer after the death of Ruby Prudence Kellons (Killian), who (RDF) was the widow of his first wife's brother L. Killian.

Beulah Lee Bates (Big Mama), wife of Jim E Fairless (Papa Jim), was the daughter of James Louis Bates and Catherine Helen Lewis. Catherine divorced Louis and married J. A. 'Poppy' Birdsong. We've been trying to figure out her parents as well, but no one seems to know at this point. Uncle Dub said she could speak in Greek. I vaguely remember her. I do remember Poppy though.

Beulah had a brother named Henry and a half sister, I think her name was Shirley or maybe Sherry.

James Louis Bates was the son of Andrew C 'Andy' Bates & Ada Pearl Stanley. His 2nd wife was Minnie Hubbard. They had a son that dad called 'Dude'.

Andrew C. Bates was the son of John P Bates and a Mahaly Unknown.
