Can anyone please tell me where I should go to find where in Germany my ggrandfather Anton Hartman(N) came from? He immigrated to the US in 1875(ship unknown) at age 16 with a brother who is unknown to us. Their parents, Anton Hartmann and Mary Reicht, were both born and died in unknown Germany. Would appreciate any help you can give. Courthouse here burned down, and everything was lost. Thanks.ng was lost. Thanks.

Update on Anton HARTMANN...Found in census that he emmigrated to the U.S. in 1881 and was from Wurttemburg. Must have lied about his age, because that would make him 22 yrs old. Anyone know where in Wurttemburg I might find his roots?

Surnames: Hartmann, Teufel
Maria, I just recently got some german records translated into English and found a Anton Hartmann as the sponser in a baptism in Bechtersbohl Germany. (I don't know if it is any connection) Anton was the sponsor for August Amalie Hartmann born 8/14/1869 daughter of Michael Hartmann and Magdalene Teufel.
I believe this Anton Hartmann may be related to the Hartmann's I am seraching as many of my relatives came from this town.
My Great Grandfather was Joachin Hartmann , he came to the US in 1883 born in 1862. Joachim had a brother Severin who named one of his son's Anthony (I assume after the Anton mentioned above)
In Joachim's journals he talked about his home town as Bechtersbohl Waldshut Baden Germany( Wuerttemberg)

Hello,
My G-G-Grandfather was Caspar Hartmann. He came from Hessen to the US (Cincinnati) in 1884. He had a child named Anton. He was born around 1855 and married Franziska Braun and had 3 children in Germany. Is it possible he is connected to this line?
Thanks
