Hi,
I need help to find an obituary for Mary Evertz (b. Marcus). She was born ab. 1846-1848 in Prussia or Germany. She passed away Sep 4, 1942 in Freeland, Lac Qui Parle Co. MN. She was married to Peter Evertz (different spellings: Ewertz, Ewerz etc). They lived at least for 30 years in Freeland.
It would be very interesting to find her obituary, as she was a sister to an ancestor of mine, Barbara Marcus (married to Jacob Clausen). Any help is greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Susanne from Sweden

There is a Mary Evertz who died 1944 in St. Louis, MO.
Peter Evertz died 12 Jun 1905 in Lac qui Parle County, MN. He was born about 1851 in Germany. A Jacob Evertz b, abt 1847 arrived NY, NY on 16 Nov 1872 from Bremen, Germany. Carl Evertz age 12 arrived on 29 Jan 1861. He arrived with Peter a locksmith age 36, his wife Alevine age 35, Emma age 14, Carl age 12, R??aloe age 9, Ida age 7, Ernest age 6, Edward age 3, Peter Daniel age 3 months, Emeilie age 4 and mother Wilhelmine age 70.
There is a Mary Ann Everest b abt 1848 left NY for Liverpool, England arrival date of 18 Jun 1898 on the Etruria.
Evertz was a common name and could have been spelled Evers,Evert, Everest, Evors or what ever is sounded like to the recorder.
It would help if you know a married name. There is no Mary Evertz in the Minnesota census.

Dear Dennis, thanks for your quick response, but I don´t think it´s her. I know they lived in Freeland, lac Qui Parle Co, from at least 1880´s and forward. You can find the family in 1920 and 1930 census where I think they have spelled their name Everz (like you said, the spelling is different from time to time). Her husband was still alive 1920 (see census 1920). They had at least two sons: William and John.
According to the census 1920, Mary Everz immigrated 1872 to the US. Her last name was Marcus/Markus etc before she got married.
Thanks for your effort anyway. Best regards, Susanne

I didn't forget, I've been looking and found nothing. I think the paper would be in Dawson, Minnesota. I asked an uncle to ask there but so far he hasn't gone. He did talk to a armature genealogist in Freeland Township but he didn't find anything either. I searched WWW.FINDAGRAVE.COM and found no Evertz's in Lac qui Parle County. I did find the family in the 1905 census. Their address was RFD #3, Freeland Township. Peter, Mary, John, Henry, Rita, Peter, Willy and Clara. No mother Marcus. This is all I know but, maybe one day they will show up. Good luck.

Re: Obituary for Mary Evertz (1846-1942) from Freeland, Lac Qui Parle, MN
Marriage certificates and divorce decrees Copies of certificates of marriage are available from the county that issued the marriage license, and divorce decrees are available from the county that granted the divorce. For ordering and fee information, please contact the local registrar in the county where the marriage license was issued or the divorce granted. http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/chs/osr/registrars.htmlThe paper in Dawson has no record of your Mary. If you need a "Statement of No Marriage" or a marriage license application, contact the local registrar in the county where you live.
