Hello,

Would someone be able to look up an obituary for me, please? I am looking for the obituary for Bernard F. Meiers, born 2 March 1925 and died 31 August 1998. To my knowledge, his last known residence was in Tonawanda, NY.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide! I greatly appreciate it.

Rachel

Unfortunately, I can't find Bernard F. Meiers in the death notice archives or obituary archives for the Buffalo News.

He may have been living in North Tonawanda which is Niagara County and the Niagara Falls NY paper may have carried it. Town of Tonawanda and City of Tonawanda are in Erie County and North Tonawanda is in Niagara County. Paper's name might be Niagara Falls Gazett but I'm not sure. Google Niagara Falls NY (Not Niagara Falls Canada)Newspaper and see if it takes you to their website. You might also google the man's name and find an obit mentioned in some other local publication. I recently did that and got a hit in a bowling league newsletter that somehow made it to the internet. Good hunting

Searching Obitfinder, there are 3 area death notices for Meiers no Bernard and all from Orleans County, NY Per ancestry, which has Public Record of Bernard F Meiers, he was living on Warren Dr Tonawanda NY 14150 in 1995. Also on ancestry US Veterans burial database, he is buried in Elmlawn Cemetery in Tonawanda NY. (NARA has his limited enlistment data, which you can access for free, if interested)

Not sure what you are trying to discover from obit, but perhaps if you contact the cemetery, they will have other family members in nearby plots. Do not know how helpful they are, but worth a call. Also, Tonawanda has a Historical Society, which you may want to phone. Maybe they have info of his service in WWII. They seemed very helpful when I visited once. You may google each for phone numbers

Good Luck
