I am seeking any information on Arthur J. Porter and his family. Arthur died in Buffalo Erie Co., New York in 1893 in a railroad accident. I have two articles about the accident but they do not give his wife's name or his son's name. If anyone could help me on this brickwall, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
Sandy

Please, could you provide the name(s) of the newspaper(s) with the date(s) and page number(s)? It might help us figure out a way to help you if we read the article(s).

The articles are from the Buffalo Evening News, October 23, 1893 and the Buffalo Daily Courier, October 26, 1893. After reading the articles once more I did find that the son's name was Fred...but nothing else.

Thanks,

Sandy

Thank you. Next time I go researching I will take a look at the articles and see if anything in them can lead to ideas about finding the information you need.

I discovered that Arthur is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The cemetery reports that Mary is buried in the plot but the lady on the phone did not have a maiden name for Mary. My phone was acting up and I did not get a chance to ask the date of Mary's death. That will be next. That was quite a tragic accident, wasn't it?

Buffalo Evening News, Tuesday 2 January 1912, page 1...
PORTER___Jan. 1, 1912 in Buffalo, N.Y., Mary Alice Porter, widow of A.J. Porter and mother of Fred Porter. The funeral will take place from the residence of Mrs. Henry Baethig, 350 Pennsylvania st. on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Friends are invited to attend. Burial at the convenience of the family.
I went to Forest Lawn and saw the monument. It only has the name of the husband. If you would like to see the photo please email scs61@juno.com.
If you need Mary's maiden name there may be other ways to search. Please let me know if this is the case.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it. If you get a chance to find her maiden name, yes I would like it but it is not something you should go out of your way for.
Again, thank you for your help. And if I can return the favor in anyway let me know...I am in MI.
Thanks

Sandy
