Looking for information on John J Quale 1859 Norway and wife Rachel Smith 1863 Norway raised their family outside of Madison MN. Possible that John may have come to the area to live with his sister Mary(Mrs. Ole)Fordal late 1870's - 1880's?

They are listed on the MN census for Arena township. He is buried in section 18 of Arena township in the Haydenville Cemetery. It is also known as Loken or Lokken Lutheran Cemetery. The findagrave website has an entire listing and they also do not have Rachel. They also show up on the MN marriage index.

Again, internet is acting up so no pics this time. I will run a test on the findagrave website. Here is the data off the headstones.
John J Quale, fodt Oct 19 1859, dode Apr 15 1908
And next three are on one side of his marker.
Alma J, Dec 14 1893 to Dec 22 1893
Lizzie B, Apr 19 1897 to Aug 28 1898
Bebi, dode Oct 9 1900
I think Bebi is not a first name. Just how they spelled baby.
There is a chance I missed Rachel on another side of the marker. It is one of those old fashioned tall sandstone markers.

Two headstones next to them are:
Lisabeth Smith, fodt Nov 18? 1822, dode Apr 20 1911
Gabriel L Smith, fodt 16 Marts? 1819, dode 30 Juni 1907

Rachel died in 1930 according to the MN death index. Tough financial times. Maybe never got a marker. On the death index, run a search for quale and mothers maiden name of smith. A Henry Quale is listed with the same date of birth as Lizzie that I listed above. Henry would have been 33 when his mother Rachael died. And Loken church closed in 1931. Again, the musuem in Madison should have all their cemteries indexed by now. No Qs in the Faith cemetery index.

I knew a Henry Quale, a farmer who lived east of Madison toward Lac Qui Parle lake. I was at their farm a few times. His daughter was a year ahead of me and graduated from Appleton High School in 1960. I don't recall any other Quales in the Madison area.
