I am looking for information pertaining to my great grandparents that immigrated to the US from Iasi from about1898 to 1900. My Grandparents names are Edward Louis and Riva Charna Goldstein. Edward Louis(Eda Labe) arrived approx 1898 or 1899 in New York City and my Great grandmother arrived in New York City in approx 1900 with 6 of their children(Becky,Samuel, Nathan, Pauline, Fannie and Sarah). They eventually settled in Kansas City, Missouri. Parents of Riva Charna(Haimovitz) are Chaim Tzvi and Pearl Haimovitz who remained in Iasi. Parents of Edward Louis(Eda Labe) Goldstein are Boruch and Sarah Goldstein, also remained in Iasi. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My great-grandparents names were Isaac Haimowitz and Chaya Polkar Haimowitz. They had 7 children, Rebecca, Benjamin, Herman, Hannah, David, Abraham, Florence. Abraham was my grandfather. My great-grandparents came from Iasi, Romania to the United States sometime in the early 1900's. As far as I know, all of their children were born in Iasi. Can you find a connection?

Thank you for your inquiry....my Great Grandmother Riva had 4 siblings...Miriam, Louis(Lieb) and the other two I do not know. The two I don't know both died in WWII in Romania. So sorry we do not have a better match. I would like to make contact with this family line. Interesting enough...my family married into the Leibowitz family also....One Aunt married a Joseph Leibowitz and an uncle married a Rifka Leibowitz...all from Iasi. Any ties to the Leibowitz family?

Susan - Is that you? Or one of her siblings??? Obviously, we are cousins! My grandfather was your grandmother's brother, Abraham. I can't believe I got a reply to a message I posted three years ago!

Re: Edward Louis and Riva Charna(Haimovitz) Goldstein
Could Boruch and Sarah Goldstein, who remained in Iasi have any other children? A son maybe by the name of Osher or Asher? My Grandparents and my mother were born in Iasi - my mothers maiden name is Goldstein and her Father was Osher and her Mother was Raizel..they had 4 daughters 3 moved with them to Israel around 1950 and my mother moved to USA in 1946 after marriage to Abstender...

Re: Edward Louis and Riva Charna(Haimovitz) Goldstein
Boruch and Sarah Goldstein had two children that I know of....my Great Grandfather Edward Louis(Eda Labe) and a daughter named Sophie. I have no idea of what happened to Sophie. I don't know of any other children...but thats not to say that they did not have more. My great grandfather was born in 1862...when was Osher born?

Melissa, please email me at fivehoms@yahoo.com. The information that my grandfather, Leonard haimes, left for me was that his grandmother, Clara Paulker, was married to his grandfather, Isadore Haimowitz. Their son David was my great grandfather. I have to check my info at home but I think the other siblings you list are the same or almost all the same as my records of David's siblings. They came from Iasi. They came to America in the early 1900's or late 1800's. I do have a lot of info and it is very possible that what you are searching for is the same. Jodi

Re: Edward Louis and Riva Charna(Haimovitz) Goldstein
I was wondering if you have any idea how many children Pauline had.....that was my grandmothers mothers name, and Riva and Edward { she said they called him Louis, instead of by his 1st name}were also her grandparents names.... i do have a picture that my grandmother has identified as her parents {Pauline with Joseph}. If we are talking about the same Pauline, she had 14 children, but only 9 survived due to miscarriages,etc...my grandmother{ Marion/ Marian), her sister Gertrude( Trudy), and Jerry { Jeremiah} are the only remaining one's left( Eva Pearl Sigman Leibowitz just passed within the past month, if these name sound familiar please CONTACT me!!! either way....thanks so much for your time!
