Looking for any information on Francois Joseph Rabouin and Adele Ida Gagnon. Both born in Canada, Adele in 1875, and later lived in Rhode Island (Pawtucket and Woonsocket). I do not know where or when they were married. They had one child, Lina, born in RI in 1898. Anyone with any information at all on either of these individuals, please e-mail lcosby@pgfm.com

Ray,
Thank you for your reply. You are right, I am having a hard time finding very many people with the Rabouin surname. Do you know if your sister's husband was from Canada or had any relatives in Canada? I am trying to pinpoint a location there where the Rabouins may have originated.
Thanks again for your reponse.

My sister's husband name was ALBERT RABOUIN. he was born in Cambridge,MA.
The name is said to come from France, i knew the city but forgot . I will ask my sister.

BTW, A few months ago, My newphew went to a restaurant in Cambridge and when he showed the waiter his visa card, The waiter just looked at it and stared at the name.

My newphew asked him. "Is there something wrong with it?" and the guy repied."NO! I'm looking at the name. My last name is RABOUIN too!"

My newphew repied"OH! We must be the Black RABOUINS!" :-)

My newphew as well as the rest of my family are a mixture BLACK/INDIAN/WHITE heritage.

Maybe my cousin can get the name address of the restaurant for you.

I will let my family now about your query.
They are trying to find out about my brother-in-law genealogy also. He was said, to be french/Indian/Cherokee and Black.Though he looked caucasian.
i will talk to you more later. Thanks for your reply.Ciao for now.

My mother's maiden name is Rabouin. Her father's name was Ernest Rabouin and her mother was Helen Martin. My mother mentioned that she had a cousin named Albert who lived in Boston. I have been trying to get info on my mother's side of the family. I was also told that my heritage was Indian and French. Please reply.

I know this is an old posting, but I have a little info on Adele Ida Gagnon. I know that she married Francois Rabouin but I don't know what happened...I guess he passed away. Anyway, in 1939, Adele Ida Gagnon Rabouin married my great grandfather, Florian Adelard Ruest, MD. I have no further information except that his children (he was a widower when he married Adele), did not like her and the stories about how she treated them (poorly) are legendary in our family. If you bring it up even now, you can tell people are still upset that he allowed the kids to be driven from the home. Anyway, that's all I know. Happy hunting.
