My GG Grandpa is Jourdan J Richard (1875 - 1931).

Both of his parents died in Zimbabwe:
Noel Antoine Richard (1835 - 1900)
Mary Elizabeth Seymour (1836 - 1905)

Noel Antoine Richard's dad:
Narcisse D Richard (1801 - 1888) also died in Zimbabwe.

Narcisse's mom:
Anne Marguerite Babin (1770 - 1829) also died in Zimbabwe.

Does anyone have any clue what they were doing there? They were from the Mississippi and Louisiana area and from what I could tell, their bodies were returned to the states for burial.

Noel Richard and his wife Mary Seymour also had (at least) 3 kids that died in Africa and one that died in Russia.

Their names were:
Robert L Richard (1866 - 1900) died in Age Africa
Antoine J Richard (1863 - 1905) died in Age Africa
Harry Edward Richard (1858 - 1912) died in Zimbabwe
Mary Adelia Richard (1859 - 1890) died in Russia

This reply may be somewhat belated but, if you're still trying to clarify your information, I may be of some help. The death locations for the Richard ancestors are not correct. We share the same great grandfathers through Noel Richard. Noel Richard actually hanged himself in Biloxi, MS. I have a handwritten copy of the Biloxi Daily Herald article describing his death. My great grandfather, Harry Edward Richard, is the brother of your gg grandfather, Jourdan. I know for certain Harry also died in Biloxi.
