Does anyone have any information on John Thomas Ranew and his wife Tabitha Smallwood Ranew? John Timothy died in February of 1857 in Lee County, Ga., but I cannot find a cemetery record for him. He is my great great grandfather

What information are you specifically looking for? Do you need to know John Thomas and Tabitha's DOB or marriage date, for example? Also is John Timothy their son, or did you mean John Thomas?

I might be able to help you search or give you some advice to point you in the right direction.

Yes, I'm talking about John Thomas "Timothy" Ranew. I'm trying to find out who all his and Tabitha's children were and what happened to them. James Elisha (one of the children) is my great grandfather. I cannot find a date of death for John Thomas or Tabitha, or where they are buried. Would love any information you may have.

I have death date of Feb 1854 for John and 9 Jun 1874 for Tabitha - both died in Sumter Co. Have you checked the Renew Cemetery in Sumter Co.? I understand many Renew's are buried there according to Ken Renou who has since passed away. Tabith is in the 1860 Sumter Co. census with 4 children - Elisha being one of them and aged 8. Sandy

They are not listed as being buried in the Ranew Cemetery. (I have visited it several times...). That's why I am stumped as to where they may be buried. Unless they were buried there and it never made the newspapers? I think that's where all the information regarding who was buried in the Ranew Cemetery came from. There are several marked graves there...but many are not marked.

Thanks for those dates though!

The death date for John may be in error - I have seen one of Feb 1857 and not Feb 1854......
