I'm interested in finding connections to the any and all of the people above. They have connections to families earlier in neighboring Butler Co., Alabama. I need to find a marriage record from around 1888 to prove that the wife of Colonel Jasper HUGGINS is Sally BLACK (but it might be in Butler Co.). I believe Durham MELTON is the brother of Michael N. MELTON who married Eliza Dupree HUGGINS. If you know of these families, please contact me. Thank you.

Do you have names of Col. Jasper Huggins' mother and father. Was his father, John Huggins of S.C. What relation is he to Columbus M. Huggins. Think Col. Jasper Huggins is interred at Coleman Assembly of God Cemetery, Wildfork (near Frisco City, AL).

I'm still very interested in the HUGGINS family--Chesterfield Co. SC>Dale Co., Ala.>Butler Co. Ala.>Monroe Co., Ala.--with a probable stop in Florida somewhere in there. They relate to my BLACKs and seem to relate somehow to my LEEs.

I believe John HUGGINS left Dale Co. and moved to Butler Co. Ala. between 1860 and 1880 (possibly went to Florida first). A portion of Butler Co. was skipped on the 1870 and 1880 censuses and the 1890 census burned. I have not found John HUGGINS in 1870 or 1880, but his daughter Dupree HUGGINS Melton and son Colonel Jasper HUGGINS and son Columbus M. Huggins were on the 1880 Butler Co. census living in the community of Starlington. John's first wife Margaret must have died before 1879, and he re-married a Mary F. Unknown would like to find that marriage license to get her name.

Appreciate the quick response to questions on Huggins family. Under listing for Wilburn Phillip Huggins, there is a daughter (Adell) + unknown Coley. Her first husband was Odis Corey (not Coley) who happened to be one of my uncles. My mother is Gladys Corey. Adell's second husband (Cleon White) is also deceased and she now resides in a nursing home in Atmore. I visited with her a while back, but her memory is failing. Record for John Huggins and second wife (Mary) has daughter Anna R. Huggins + unknown Parrish. Annie was my Dad's mother and her husband was John L. Parrish (1880-1950).

Thanks for all info on John Huggins (SC/AL) and decendants. My grandmother, Annie Huggins Parrish, is by the 2nd (?) wife, Mary. Has anyone located information on the two wives (maiden names, etc.) As a child, I was told 2nd wife, Mary was half Indian, but haven't been able to prove that. I know of Wm. Joseph, Wilburn Phillip, Annie, and Clara Belle (we called her Aunt Clare); but, do not have info on daughters, Mary or Laura I don't think Clara ever married. Does anyone have info on the two wives (maiden names, etc) or where Mary is buried? Any help will be appreciated.

Below is a list of all Hugginses who died in Monroe County (according to the Alabama Death Index at Ancestry.com). It says that Mary F., the second wife of John Huggins, died in April of 1932. You could order her death certificate. It might give her maiden name and parents' names.

I have obituaries on three of the names above: Sallie Huggins who died in 1942 was Sallie BLACK who married Colonel Jasper Huggins. Tommie N. Huggins was their son. Also, I have an obit for William J. Huggins (son of John and Mary), but not his wife Minnie. I don't know who Lance Huggins is yet or the Sallie Huggins who died in 1936.

I assume John married his first wife Margaret in SC, maybe in Chesterfield Co. I haven't tried to find anything on her.

Next time I go to Monroe Co. I'm hoping to find obits for John Huggins and Mary F. M. Huggins. I have a death date for John Huggins as June 12, 1906, but I have another date for a John Huggins who died March 7, 1901 (don't know who he is).

I don't have anything on John and Mary's daughter Mary, and all I have on Laura is that she married a BURTON.

I have the Certificate of Death for Mary Frances Huggins (born Nov. 1862--died April 9, 1932, at age 70), widow of John Huggins. Her parents' names were given as William Farrish and Mary Frances Farrish. The informant was Joe Huggins.

The cause of death was organic heart disease and nephritis. She was buried April 10, 1932, at Coleman Graveyard (but I've not found her on the listing for that cemetery).
