Locating live relatives in Cuba

How difficult would it be to locate live relative in Cuba. I know their birth names and the names of their parents.

I'm thinking it's next to impossible but I figure I'll ask before I forget about the idea of contacting them.

Getting in contact with them would be important since their grand father is my great grand father.

I do have an uncle in Cuba. If he is willing to do the leg work for me, what would he have to do? If he doesn't want to look for the relatives, what steps can I take to locate them my self?

Thanks!

I see your surname is Montes de Oca. There is another posting related to this surname. If not then first of all give us names. Do you know the city or town they live in or were born at? How about your uncle, where does he live? This may be a good starting place.
Check out the website http://www.cubagenweb.org/
They won´t so searches for you but you will find resources that may help you as well.
Let me know if I can help some more.

Well my question was geared more towards the methodology of how to find living relatives in Cuba. For example, is there somewhere in Cuba I can write to, is there a department my uncle can go to, to ask. Is there a listing of some sort. That kind of thing...

I´m afraid that would be more difficult. I´m not aware of any phone book or agency that you can contact to find that information. On the web site I mentioned before there is a link to white and yellow pages. Not sure how current that is but its worth a try. There is also a copy of the 1958 phone book. Here is the link to that site.

Let me know how it goes.
Good luck

Wonderful!
Thank you, I'll go through it and see if I can identify anyone I knew to be alive at that time.

Thanks
