I was reading postings relate to the surname Mongoose and Monguse. My mother's maiden name is Klebs her parents are Raymond D Klebs and Martha L Twobirds.

Martha L Twobirds (my grandmother) parent's are Henry Twobirds and Sarah L Mongoose. Sarah L Mongoose parents are Daniel Mongoose and Louisa Perrault.

I spoke to my mother about the name "Shalifoe" she remembers hearing the name but can not offer any additional information.

I do not have any information expect what I included in this e-mail. I do you have any information about Sarah Mongoose siblings or if she even had any brothers or sisters.

Base on your posting Sarah must have at least one sibling. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Ron, Thomas was married to Mary Jane Mongoose, who's parents were Daniel & Louisa. She had many brothers and sisters. My grandmother was Sarah Louise Shalifoe, my mother Leona Helen Duschene. I believe your grandmother may have been my mother's Godmother. Her baptism certificate lists Martha L. Twobirds. Do you have much information on the Twobirds family? Look forward to hearing from you.

Denice, Thank you for responding to my inquiry.

Henry Twobirds married Sarah L Mongoose in Wisconsin on May 22, 1905. They had one child Martha Louise Twobirds (b. Sep 30, 1908 d. Nov 24, 1967)

Martha Louise Twobirds had two children with Donald Raymond Klebs (b. Jan 28, 1908 d. Mar 1967).

The two children are Donald Francis Twobirds (b. Apr 26 , 1926 d. Feb 04, 1995) and my mother, Donna Elaine Klebs (b. Jan 15, 1934). As you may have noticed by the date, today is her birthday and she is doing fine.

Any information you can provide about the Mongoose family would be helpful. This is all I know about the Mongoose family.

Daniel Mongoose( b. 1849 Michigan) married Louisa Perrault (b. 1854 Canada) and I have the name of six children.

Charlotte Mongoose - b. 1874 Chocolay MI
John Mongoose - b. May 18, 1876 Chocolay MI

Sarah L Mongoose - b. 1883 Chocolay MI

I had thought that his middle name might be Francis. Do you know who his parents were? I have first name Margaret for his mother. My Grandmother was sister to Thomas, Jr.

Tom doesn't know what his great grandfather's name was, but he was a mailman that had a run between Baraga and Ontonagon. He was a Frenchman from Canada originally. He doesn't know if he was actually from France or not.
You must be a great niece of Thomas Jr. (my husband's dad).

Hi again. I just thought you may want to try contacting the Morman Church. We are not Mormans but my cousin was researching our family history and discovered that the Morman Church has records of most people in the U.S. She was able to trace our family history to before the Revolutionary War. It's worth a try. It seems to me they have a website.

You might want to try the spelling Shelifoe. There's a lot of them listed the Baraga county censuses. I have family in those censuses so I've spent a lot of time scanning the original documents. Some vowels are often changed due to the person preferring that spelling or transcript errors.
