Have a copy of great-uncle's (Kamil Heindl) World War II discharge papers from 1918, says he was born in Novo Kodyne, Austria, but Ellis Island ship's manifest (1913) says N. Kodyne, Bohemia. Grand-father's (Jerry -maybe Jaroslav- Heindl) civilian draft registration (1917-18) says he was born in Domarlice, Bohemia. We can find a Domazlice on southwestern border of Bohemia, no trace of a Novo Kodyne. Can anyone help us locate these two towns? Are they near each other? Also in the family was another brother whose name begins with "L" and a sister "Camille," any help or ideas appreciated.

Jewish Gen Shtetl Seeker (Linked to the main page above, or jewishgen.org) shows Domazlice (German name: Taus) at 49 26 - 12 56 and Kdyne, or Kdyne Nova (German: Neugedein) at 49 24 - 13 02.
Kdyne is 5 miles ESE of Domazlice. Click on the coordinates to locate on map.
These may be the towns you are looking for.
Good hunting.

Kdyne, once called Nova (New) Kdyne, is the small town (5.000 inhab.now) next to Domazlice (10.000 inhab.), only 10 km to Germany border in West Bohemia.

Re: Where are Novo Kodyne & Domarlice?
We found relatives from Nova Kdyne and it was a suburb of Domalicz( Used to be called Taus) Look on google map. Maybe this will help, Plzen is the district archive but they do not do research. Finngal
