I am looking for info on Pines Ingram, a Revolutionary War Vet from Virginia who married Lucy Hamlette in 1773 later settled in Madison County, AL. Died on Nov. 18, 1830 in Madison County supposedly. Any info on him or Lucy and where they may be buried would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sherry: Just noticed your message about Pines Ingram and Lucy Hamlett. I'm descended from Lucy's sister Hannah Hamlett and John Collier, who married in Prince Edward Co., VA in 1765. They migrated to KY in 1795, and both d. in Nicholas Co., KY. I have some data on Pines and Lucy's children, but mostly about the Pettypool and Cabiness families. I have tried to trace the Hamletts back beyond Lucy and Hannah's father, James Hamlett, but too many VA records have been lost. I'd like to share data with you.
Ed Dolan.

Hi Ed - I am finally on the Internet and would like to exchange information on the Hamlette family. I am a descendant of Pines Ingram and Lucy Hamlette, Martha Cabaniss and Drury M. Allen.

Sherry-Thanks for responding. I'm descended from Hannah Hamlett, Lucy's sister, who married John Collier in Pr. Edward Co., VA in 1765. I was hoping perhaps one of Lucy's descendants might have retained information on the origins of the Hamletts in VA. James Hamlett, father of Lucy and Hannah, appears in the Amelia Co., VA tax records as early as 1744. He purchased land there in 1748 and 1749. This land became part of Prince Edward Co. when it was formed in 1754. Ther were Hamletts in Charles City Co. and in Henrico Co. in the 1700's and earlier, as well as in James City Co. But the evidence is spotty and nothing to show who were the parents of James and Obedience Hamlett.
There was a Thomas Hamlett in Prince Edward Co. also, with sons James and David. I believe this Thomas was a brother of James, but no proof has been found.
I have information on the daughters of Pines Ingram and Lucy - Martha and Lucy, and their husbands, Wiltshire Pettypool and Charles Cabiness, Jr. But I know almost nothing about his sons, William, James, John and Samuel. I have John marrying a Lucy Hanson on 14 Dec. 1814, in Madison Co., AL, and that's all. If you have any more on the sons, I'd like to know.
I tried to find a will for Pines Ingram in Madison Co., but wasn't successful
I have information on Hannah and John Collier, if you're interested, and on their brothers, James and William.
Thanks again, Ed Dolan, Shawnee, Kansas

I would like the information you have on Hannah and John, and their brothers James and William. I too have had no luck so far on finding out much information on the Hamlette's, but will keep on trying and pass on anything I do learn to you. My email address is sherrynabring@sbcglobal.net. I'll double my efforts to find information on Pines' sons, as I am not finding out too much more on Lucy and Charles, unless you can tell me who killed Drury Allen. Thanks!!

Pines Ingram (b. 1 Jan 1741, d. 18 Nov 1830, Madison Co., AL)
Among first settlers in Madison Co., AL,
m. Lucy Hamlette on 1 Jan 1773. She was the daughter of James Hamlette.

[I am descended from some Hamlets of Madison County, Alabama--no known connection to Lucy (mine were from North Carolina). I found this note among my papers so am passing it along. I don't know if there is any indication of sources for the dates in the book. I jotted this down about fifteen years ago on a trip to the library.]

I am so excited to read your post. I am researching the Cabiness line. I found a listing for Charles P. Cabaniss who md. Lucy Worsham Ingram and now your post which ties in with it. I know that my GGGrandfather's name is John W.Cabiness who was md. to Mary Moore McDonald of Coosa County, AL. WE believe that he was born abt. 1812 either in VA or KY. They had several children and my Grandfather's name was Marcus Sylvester Cabiness who md. Martha Tabitha Wells in TX shortly after they came from AL just after the Civil War. They had 2 daughters,Mattie and Mary Belle. Mattie Cabiness was my maternal grandmother. I'd love to have any info that you would share with me concerning Lucy Worsham Ingram who md. Charles Cabaniss who may be part of my line that has been missing for so long. Mattie md. Sam Jenkins and her sister md. a Hodges. One of the Hodges' son is named Ingram. Therefore, I think this is a strong lead. (new email is imas@netcommander.com)
